Cat toy - do it yourself or buy?

All cats love to play, and their owners can spend long hours playing with them and watching their behavior. To give pets the opportunity to have fun, you do not need to spend a lot of money. Not only that, the cat will be happy even with home-made toys, for the creation of which you can connect children. Any housewife will always find the necessary materials for the manufacture, and there is no need to spend a lot of time on this! Stores offer a wide selection of cat fun, but do you know what your pet prefers? Who is she by nature: birder, mouse, or thinker? These domestic predators love to chase, attack, capture, carry, bite and ride.

How to make a toy yourself

Encourage the instinct of the hunter in the animal. A toy for a cat should look like a bait. There are many ways to build it.

  • Attach a regular sheet of compressed paper to the rope. Watching the sway of this bow, the animal will think that the "victim" is alive.
  • Having tied any soft toy to a belt from an old dressing gown, your child will certainly carry away a fluffy pet.
  • Make a chick. Which cat doesn’t want to chase a bird? To do this, glue the tennis ball and golf ball. They have different sizes, the smaller of them is similar to the head, the larger - to the body. Place them in a rectangular bag of bright fabric, sew a hole and wrap around the neck with a tight cord, tightly tying its ends. For the tail, use the interconnected short parts of ribbons or laces, attaching them to the bottom. Use a non-toxic marker to draw eyes. Under them, place the beak from a piece of stiff braid, securing it in the middle so that the tips stick out. You can attach a tie just below, and the toy for the cat is ready.
    Mouse - a toy for a cat

  • Make a mouse - the most typical cat hunting object! Place two pompons from old hats in a drop-shaped pocket cut out of gray felt. Sew two eyes on the top. Then darn the remaining hole by inserting the tail from the lace into it.
  • Use improvised items. Flashlights and laser pointers are a great way to entertain the animal (and you). Turn off the light and direct the rays in different directions. Murka will chase the lit points or streams of light for a long time, if she is in the mood.

Consider the possibility of collision with other things during the persecution, be careful not to harm the pet. When using a laser pointer, be careful not to direct the beam into the eyes of the animal.

Get creative with household items. An excellent cat toy is a paper bag from a grocery store, an empty sewing spool for thread, empty containers (thoroughly washed in advance), crumpled pieces of paper, and so on - all this can be used for entertainment.

  • It's time to eat. Put dry food inside an open wide-necked plastic bottle. Your pet, pushing and twisting it, will get food during the game.
  • Throw a ping pong ball, your furry friend will chase him for a long time. Just be aware that this can be quite a noisy event, so if someone is napping, try again later.
  • Use boxes as shelters or lodges. Cut windows and doors into them for easy access by a mustachioed friend. Hang inside the toys, fastening them on top - a great bat effect. If you use large boxes, then the cat can play inside and hide. When they believe that they are invisible, they can jump out at any moment on an unsuspecting victim, so be careful!

Soap bubbles are also cat toys

  • Soap bubbles are also a great way to have fun in the company of animals and children at the same time.
  • "Mouse under the covers" - old a proven method when a hand or leg moves under a blanket in a chaotic manner. Just be careful with flirting - the attacking hunter can scratch very hard!
  • An interesting toy for a cat is a large mirror. It will provide several hours of free entertainment, because some furry specimens like to watch or attack the double reflected there.
  • Fasten between the chairs gum in the form of a swing and gently push it. A curious creature will pay attention to this unusual moving object. Caught on his teeth or claws, be sure to sway.

In addition, quite often the owners use cleaning products (mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners) as toys for cats. The photo below shows how a fluffy miracle rides on a small robot vacuum cleaner.

Interactive activities

A fairly wide range of interactive toys are pet stores. Some of them are simpler and created on the basis of the fun described above, they only move automatically, and not with the help of a person.

Others are made in the form of a complex, for example, the toy "Cat Track" with an exciting pursuit of rapidly spinning and loudly banging balls. The cat's eye will follow through the holes for the balls rolling inside. A furry pet will try to catch them again and again, and so on ad infinitum. If this is not enough, then a small fur mouse is mounted on the vertical spring, which moves from the touch of the legs trying to grab it. The spring has a protective coating that prevents injuries. For a special excitement, you can put solid pieces of food or catnip inside . The effect will exceed all expectations.
