July 3 - Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus. This is a joyful moment in the life of not only the country, but also each of its inhabitants. He is joyful and sad at the same time. On this day, remember the Great Victory of the Soviet people over fascism. Indeed, during the war more than 30% of the inhabitants of this country died. They do not forget about the dashing 90s, when confusion and chaos reigned in the country.
The role of Independence Day
Many peoples sought and some of them continue to seek sovereignty. For the Republic of Belarus this freedom was not easy. It was preceded by bloody wars, the change of political regimes.
But the goal has been achieved, and today Belarus acts as a sovereign state with its Constitution and state symbols. It is a member of many international unions and organizations (UN, CIS and others).
Story
Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus is primarily associated with freedom from fascist invaders. On July 3, as a result of the Bagration operation, the capital of the Republic of Belarus, the city of Minsk, was liberated.
The beginning of the 1990s was a very difficult time for the state, as well as for other countries participating in the USSR. The economic crisis has led to confusion. Plants closed, the standard of living of the population fell, crime increased. But gradually, life began to improve.
In the period 1991-1996, Independence Day was celebrated on July 27. The Declaration of Sovereignty of Belarus, signed in 1990, dates from this number.
Since that day, the country has gained independence. But this could not have happened if in 1944 Soviet soldiers had not driven the Germans to the west. Indeed, according to Hitler’s plans, 75% of the population would be destroyed. The rest would turn into slaves. Therefore, in order to perpetuate the memory of the hero-liberators, it was decided to establish a different date.
The initiator of the transfer was the President of Belarus. At his suggestion, a nationwide referendum was held in 1996, as a result of which 88.18% of Belarusians voted to change the holiday date to July 3. Since then, the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus coincides with the day of liberation of the capital.
A year before this significant date, a new national emblem and flag were selected in a referendum.
July 3 is officially considered a public holiday.
A variety of celebrations are held throughout the country. But with the greatest scope, Independence Day is celebrated in Minsk.
Grand parade
The scenario for the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus necessarily includes a military parade held at the intersection of Masherov Avenue and Pobediteley. It is opened by Suvorov drummers. Then the banners of the fronts that took part in the liberation of the country are taken out. Another reminder of the deed of the ancestors is the column, disguised in uniform during the Second World War. Representatives of the Ministry of Emergencies, border guards, and cadets also take part in the march.
An integral part of the festive parade is military equipment. Another exciting point is the demonstration performance of aviation.

The parade is not limited to July 3 . Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus is celebrated on a grand scale. Mass entertainment events are held throughout Minsk: exhibitions, fairs, concerts, discos, various sports.

Achievements of the sovereign Republic of Belarus
Today Belarus is actively cooperating with various countries of the world. The largest turnover developed between the republics of the former USSR. Belarus maintains mutually beneficial cooperation with Asian countries.
The republic also does not enter into any confrontations. Moreover, Belarus has for some time been a peacemaking platform for the settlement of conflicts in Ukraine.
