Lovebird Parrot: Content Features

Lovebird parrots were so named because of the strong affection of the female and male throughout life. Birds of this breed live in nature only in pairs, and a partner is chosen once and for all. These birds try to be nearby all the time, they fly, relax and eat together.

The lovebird has a graceful, one might even say, intelligent appearance compared to other birds of this species. The body length is about 17 cm, the head is large, and the legs are short. The tail of the lovebird is round, short but neat. Despite the fact that the beak does not make an aggressive impression, a parrot can cause serious damage to a person. But, in fact, the nature of these creatures is non-conflict.

Lovebirds are agile and agile. They not only fly very well, but also move beautifully through trees and land. Parrots have a sonorous, not very pleasant voice, but for no reason they do not bother the owners with their loud screams.

The homeland of the lovebirds is Africa and Madagascar, where they are still common in nature. There are several varieties of these parrots: pink-cheeked, strawberry-, gray-, green- and orange-headed, spectacled, masked. All of them are united by similar sizes, general appearance, green color of plumage. Depending on the species, the lovebird has a yellow or red beak.

According to experts, these birds are very easy to maintain. In captivity, they live perfectly in pairs and singly (for this the bird needs to be tamed). A spacious metal cage or aviary can serve as a home for parrots. Birds are unpretentious to food. In addition to standard food for parrots, they will be happy to try boiled eggs, walnuts, corn, cottage cheese, sweet cereals, vegetables, fruits, juices and herbs.

If lovebirds appear in the house, taming these birds will not be difficult. They are no worse than other birds, you can teach them not to fear people, respond to a name, eat with their hands and even sit on their shoulders. But, it is worth keeping in mind that it is possible to tame a lovebird only when he is alone. In a pair of birds, little attention is paid to people.

Parrots breed not only in the wild, but also at home. But, for this it is necessary to create suitable conditions, the microclimate of the air must be humid, a certain temperature is observed, the period from February to September. The female gives three broods per year (no longer recommended due to exhaustion), laying about 3-5 eggs.

When purchasing birds, the question often arises: how to determine the sex of a lovebird parrot ? Due to the fact that individuals of the same size and color, it is very difficult to find differences in appearance. Females have a wider pelvis, and while resting in a calm position, they sit with their legs wider than males. Experienced breeders can distinguish gender by placing the bird with their backs on the palm of their hand and feeling the pelvis with their middle and index fingers. If a lovebird parrot bites strongly, then this is a female. You can feel the difference by cutting the claws, the female behaves more aggressively. In general, only an experienced ornithologist can accurately determine the sex. Therefore, to be sure that the birds get along with each other, it is better to purchase an already formed pair from the nursery.

The mood of the bird can be recognized by various external signs. If a lovebird parrot reaches for something, then he is interested in this subject. If you like the toy, the bird pushes it with its nose. A sign of surprise is ruffled feathers. When the parrot grabs his finger, then he wants to play. With tightly pressed feathers, the pet is angry, it is necessary to calm him down and find out what is the matter.

Lovebirds are beautiful birds that will decorate any environment with their presence. And watching them is a real pleasure for children and adults.
