For many people, hookah is associated with an oriental souvenir for smoking tobacco. But recently, he has been increasingly appearing in our lives. Hookah will take an important role at any party. And already, probably, you will not surprise anyone with this detail in the interior.
The variety of species is great. But not all of them are of high quality. And in order to choose a suitable one, you need to know how the hookah is arranged.
Compound elements
The hookah as a whole consists of several elements: a bowl, saucer, shaft, valve, hose, bulb. Each element has its own function.
Flask - this is the container into which liquid is poured (water, milk, wine). It can be made of glass, plastic, metal. It is recommended that you choose a glass flask that is easy to care for. In addition, the glass does not absorb extraneous odors, and through it the level of the poured liquid is visible. But it is better to choose the one whose walls are thicker.
A hollow tube, which is usually called a mine, is lowered into the flask. Passing through it, smoke leaves all harmful substances on its walls. For convenience, the shaft should be 60-80 cm long, but not less than 40-50 cm.
The shaft can be connected to the bulb with a thread or gasket (rubber seal). If the thread is damaged, replacing it will be difficult. Therefore, it is better to give preference to gaskets.
At the second end of the shaft a bowl is put on (chilim). It fits tobacco. A piece of foil with holes is placed on top. Upstairs is coal. The bowl is made of metal, ceramics and clay. Preference should be given to the clay part, which holds heat best. Ceramics are a little worse in this property, but it is more aesthetic.
A saucer is located just below the bowl, which protects against the loss of coal and ash. You can put tongs and a spare corner on it. The saucer does not perform other tasks, so it can be made of various materials.
A hose is attached at the bottom of the shaft. In order for the smoke to stretch well, the latter must have a sufficient width. There are models with several hoses. It may be convenient in the company, but wrong. A quality hookah can have only one hose. On the opposite side of it is a valve.
Accessories for hookah
In addition to the hookah with tobacco and coals, additional accessories are needed. Sometimes they may be included.
For smoking you will need:
- Tongs to transfer burning coal into a bowl. Usually, a knitting needle is attached at the opposite end to pierce holes in the foil.
- Foil, which will subsequently fit into the bowl between tobacco and coal.
- Brushes for cleaning.
- Mouthpieces - disposable caps on the hose, if you plan to smoke a hookah with the whole company.
- Diffuser for hookah, which reduces the noise of gurgling liquid in the flask.
- Cap for protection against wind of a bowl with coal (outdoors).
Hookah diffuser
Among the accessories for a hookah, it is worth mentioning about the diffuser. This small device reduces the level of gurgling water in the flask. Outwardly, it looks like a cap with holes, which is worn on the lower end of the shaft.
The hookah diffuser divides the stream of smoke entering the mine, dividing its large bubbles into smaller ones. As a result, they pass through the water quieter.
Along with this, the hookah diffuser performs several more functions:
- Traction is facilitated.
- Smoke is better filtered.
- The smoke cools more.
Silicone diffuser for hookah can be bought if it was not included. But it can be done independently. For these purposes, most often use the egg "Kinder surprise", a thimble, a piece of rubber hose. Further, everything is intuitive and simple. Have a good time!
