From the history
Tanks appeared in Russia only in the 20s of the twentieth century. However, their production was suspended as unnecessary. In the 30s, the T-34 tank appeared, surpassing foreign counterparts. At the same time, educational institutions for the training of tank specialists are opening. During the war years, the qualitative characteristics of machines improve, as in battles the smallest flaws in equipment were revealed, which were immediately eliminated in production. The number of tanks also increased: before the war, there were 1392 units, and only in June 1941, 305 units of tank equipment were produced.
The decree of the Presidium on June 1, 1946 established a professional holiday. What date was Tanker Day in the post-war era? Then the holiday date was September 11th annually. It was associated with the major success of the Soviet tank forces during the East Carpathian operation in 1944. The date was adjusted in 1980.
Tradition of celebration
In Russia, the tasks of developing tank troops are being successfully accomplished; their mobility and equipment are improving. Our country is one of the world leaders in the production of tanks. In many cities, there are tank museums. So, in 2001, on the Day of Tanker’s Day, the T-34 Tank History Museum was opened. Such an institution is the only one in the whole world.
On the solemn date parades, military exercises, and exhibitions of modern armored vehicles are held. All tankers receive warm congratulations in their military units and in the family circle. The authorities encourage them with gifts, reward the best medals, orders.
You may not even know what date Tanker’s Day is, since you won’t miss it anyway. The fact is that on television in a solemn date show festive concerts, films about tankers, performances of artists. The authorities are trying to stand out on this holiday: pre-think the entertainment program and hang out a poster for the upcoming event.
When Tanker Day is celebrated, tank crews are first remembered. Indeed, the outcome of the battle sometimes depended on their dedication.
Panzer divisions were a "shield" on the way to Stalingrad and Moscow. Tankers took the main blow of the enemy on themselves near the city of Kursk. The honorary title of
Hero of the Soviet Union during the war years was awarded to 1142 tankmen. And in our time, brave, responsible, decisive, courageous people become tankers.
Tankers Day is celebrated not only by Russia, but also by the CIS countries (Ukraine, Belarus). On this day we are one family, one big whole. It doesn’t matter what date Tanker’s Day was before, now it is celebrated on the second Sunday of September. So do not forget to congratulate all the friends and relatives of the tankers.
