General information
This drug is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug belonging to the group of carboxylic acids. It is produced in the form of tablets, which contain 5, 10 or 20 milligrams of ketoprofen. They are packaged in blisters. Each of them contains ten tablets.
Blisters are placed in labeled cardboard packaging, which must have information about the manufacturer, expiration dates and storage conditions. They also have the mark “For animals”. Ketofen is stored (for cats or other animals) in a dark, dry place at a temperature not exceeding twenty-five degrees. The shelf life of this veterinary drug is not more than three years from the date of production.

The composition of this drug has ketoprofen, which has antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. This substance actively affects the metabolism of arachidonic acid, inhibiting the production of prostaglandins. It is effective for the treatment of chronic, subacute and acute inflammatory processes. Half an hour after oral administration of the drug, the maximum concentration of ketoprofen is observed in the blood plasma of the animal. It is completely excreted through the kidneys.
In the recommended dosage “Ketofen” for cats, the price of which starts from four hundred or six hundred rubles, it does not have a sensitizing and toxic effect. Also, it does not accumulate in the body of the animal.
Indications for use
This drug is prescribed for the treatment of chronic and acute diseases of the musculoskeletal system. It effectively copes with edema, injuries, dislocations, arthritis and arthrosis.

Contraindications and side effects

Dosage and administration
Ketofen for cats is used orally. It is given once a day with food. Dosage is determined individually in each case. It is selected taking into account the weight of the pet. So, for every kilogram of body weight of an animal, one milligram of the active substance is given.
The duration of the course of treatment is determined by the veterinarian. In most cases, it does not exceed three or five days. If you skip one dose, you need to resume taking the drug.
As for compatibility with other medicines, Ketofen for cats is not used simultaneously with anticoagulants and diuretics. Also, it is not used along with other anti-inflammatory non-steroidal drugs.
