The Criminal Executive System of Russia (UIS) is one of the keys to the security of citizens and the successful development of the state. In one form or another at all times in a civilized society there have been cases of crime and punishment. Over the past centuries, employees of the penitentiary system not only stood guard over the peace of the country's population, but also tried to fulfill its main function - to return good citizens to society. In its current form, it dates back to March 12, 1879, the day Alexander II signed the decree on the creation of the prison department, which united and structured all the country's correctional institutions. Therefore, it is March 12th - Day of the Russian penal system. It was established in 2010.
A bit of history
The UIS of Russia was part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, however, due to international obligations, the country was transferred to the control of the Ministry of Justice. From now on, the ministry does not have the task of providing construction work with the workforce or participating in the fight against the opposition, so it can help build a rule of law state. Now this is a more open to the media prestigious system, standing guard over the law and the interests of the population.
Hard workdays
The day of the employee of the penitentiary system is not only designed to draw attention to inconspicuous and important work, but also to encourage the public to call for educational work and the provision of social assistance to the released and prisoners. Every day, FSIN officers carry out tasks related to the correction, protection, escort, medical care of those arrested, education and retraining, as well as attracting their work. They have a very difficult, dangerous service and rightfully have their own professional date - the day of the employee of the penitentiary system.
A look into the future
Now there is a concept aimed at the development of the penal correction system, calculated until 2020. In accordance with it, the activities of the FSIN should be close to international standards and contribute to the development of society. The main areas of work for federal service employees will be such actions: the active use of punishments that do not involve deprivation of liberty, the prevention of the popularization of the criminal subculture, and the stimulation of the lawful behavior of convicts and those released. The document implies not only an improvement in the situation of persons in custody, but also an increase in the remuneration of employees of prisons. Established Day of the employee of the penitentiary system, of course, contributes to the achievement of these goals.
