Experienced developers have created many interesting, unusual games. But the passage of “Turgor” will give gamers truly incomparable emotions. The toy, like other products from the Russian company Ice-Pick Lodge, stands out for its originality, unusualness. That is why it will be interesting to get acquainted with it for any gamer who is ready for serious challenges.
What is this genre?
In general, attributing it with confidence to any one genre will not work. Yes, and a few too. Although there are elements of survival, quests and RPGs, the toy represents a completely new direction - nothing has come out since its birth (which happened more than 10 years ago).
It doesn’t matter how many games you have mastered before - completing Turgor will cause the same emotions that you received from the very first computer toy. Misunderstanding of the world, confusion, inconsistency. The developers threw away all the tested templates and patterns, which are used to create the majority of games, deciding to come up with something completely new, sometimes crazy, but very exciting.
Unusual mechanics
It all starts with the fact that the main character (not a man at all, judging by the fact that he has almost a dozen hearts) comes to life in an unfamiliar world. Everything around seems faded, fake. Only a few bright objects are sometimes knocked out of the general grayness. These are things endowed with Color - the most valuable resource in the Gap. Yes, that’s the name of the world where the hero woke up.
Its main goal is to leave the Gap. But for this you need to show the wonders of dexterity, foresight and diplomacy, as well as be able to fight and hide from the enemy. Almost all actions are performed using color. You can get it in different ways - from small creatures, trees, rocks and just pick up those crumbs that are lying right under your feet.
Fight, communicate, grow trees and destroy rocks - all this requires color. And there are as many as seven of them in the Gap. Each gives the character some specific properties, skills. For example, filling the Heart with gold, the hero will be able to more easily negotiate with the Sisters. If the Heart is filled with emerald color, then the character's protection is increased. Purple allows you to inflict more damage to the enemy and so on.
The whole game is the extraction of color, exchange and waste. But how beautiful and unusual this is done! Of course, no gamer will be able to forget the passage of the Turgor game, regardless of how many games he gets to know after that.
Who inhabits the world
The gap is populated by a variety of creatures. The most important of these are the Sisters. They guard the crossings in the Gap, to agree with them, you need to bring them Color. Lots of Color. Only when their hearts are full will it be possible to move on. Each has its own oddities, aspirations and habits, but everyone dreams of one thing - to accumulate enough Color to leave the Gap.
Brothers, also known as Guardians, Hunters, or the Righteous, are quite aggressive creatures that protect the Sisters, and at the same time take away their Color, leaving only crumbs that are barely enough to extend their lives. Each of them has a very unusual appearance and battle tactics. They will have to fight fiercely - choose the appropriate tricks to win.
Deficiencies are creatures that seem alive. In fact, these are rather golems - they are "born" when drops of Color fall on the dead breed. Some are harmless (you can suck Color out of them), while others are quite dangerous - you have to fight with them. When passing the game "Turgor. Voice of Color", the player may also encounter Deficiencies that parasitize trees, stockpiled a lot of Color, as well as those that can disguise themselves as safe objects and attack when the hero approaches them.
Important Terms
As already mentioned, Color is the most important resource in the game. He was described in detail above.
Hearts are reservoirs in which Color can be stored. There are both the hero and all Sisters. You can fill with different colors - just those that were at hand. If there is not a drop of Color left in the Heart, the hero will die.
Peace is a kind of location in which this or that Sister lives. But, as they say, Peace is not a place, but a state of mind. That is why to move you need to get permission from the Sisters, and at the same time spend a certain amount of Color. There are three types of chambers: the Garden, the Mine and the Reserve. In the Gardens you can see Trees. The nature reserves are inhabited by Malfunctions. When visiting the Mines, the hero can mine Color directly from the rock.
Trees are dried trees, completely lifeless. If the character pours a little Color into them, then they will come to life and after a while they will begin to actively bear fruit - bring Color. Moreover, its amount depends on how much resource has been spent on revitalization. During the passage of "Turgor. Voice of Color" they may appear special Malfunctions - Scorpions, which suck out life force until they are finished by the hero. The Brothers are also a danger to the Trees - you need to set traps to protect the Garden and protect the reserves of a valuable resource.
Walkthrough Tips
As already mentioned, not every experienced player can play the Turgor game. The tips that we’ll give now will allow you to quickly deal with the mechanics, prevent unnecessary mistakes that seriously complicate the passage and can even spoil the fun of the game.
When working with Trees, use the Donor icon. Try to fill them with Color completely - if you save and do not add at least a few drops, the crop will be much less rich than it could.
When playing, there are both large Trees and small Trees. Less flowers are used to revive the latter, but the harvest from them will be more modest. However, if there are enough resources, then it makes sense to revive all the Trees, regardless of size.
Before talking with the Sisters, try to fill the hero’s hearts with gold. Then the Sisters will be more favorable to him, it will be easier to persuade them to meet, help or just give useful advice.
Having grown the Garden, be sure to create the Sentinel - for this, fill any inanimate object (stone or some driftwood) with Color. Then Brother, when visiting the Garden, will not empty the trees, depriving you of the reserves you are counting on.
How many times to pass the game?
Of course, passing the toy only once is pointless. The player won’t understand anything, he’ll get confused. Only with repeated passage, finally understanding the mechanics, you can get the maximum pleasure from the process of immersion in an amazing, unusual, unlike anything world. However, if you managed to get through the game at least once, few gamers resist the temptation to play it again.
Conclusion
Let's hope that the tips for passing "Turgor" will facilitate the gameplay. We tried to talk about the general mechanics, the importance of Color, the main goal of the game and the creatures that inhabit the Gap. So it remains only to plunge into the game with your head and go through it to the end!
