This man came from a family of Muslim Turks. As a young man, he fell ill with smallpox and was already preparing for death. However, a certain Christian woman took the boy and took him to an Orthodox church, where he washed his body with holy water. Immediately the young man recovered and returned home completely healthy. When this happened, he decided to adopt Christianity, for which he went to Mount Athos, where he was baptized in one of the monasteries. When he announced this to his compatriots, they put him to death as an apostate. It happened in 1819. June 18th. St. Constantine, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Russia
Saint Constantine was from a family of Greeks. In 1155, the patriarch of Constantinople ordained him bishop in order to occupy the metropolitan’s pulpit in Kiev. Two years later, Prince Yuri Dolgoruky died , after which the confrontation began. During this struggle, Metropolitan Konstantin was removed from the pulpit, and he retired to Chernigov, where he was received by Bishop Anthony. Having lived there for two years, St. Constantine died. His memory and the name day of Konstantin are celebrated on June 18.
11th August. St. Constantine, Patriarch of Constantinople
The future patriarch in his youth received an excellent education in Constantinople, where he then made a brilliant career for himself at the court of the emperor. However, in 1050 he falls into disgrace and by order of the emperor Konstantin Monomakh loses all regalia and is expelled from the capital. As a result of this, he retires to the monastery and takes tonsure, and after several years returns to the capital as hegumen of one of the monasteries. In 1959 he was elected to the freed patriarchal throne, which he holds until his death in 1063. In the Orthodox Church he is considered a saint. June 3rd. Equal-to-the-Apostles Emperor Constantine
This emperor of the Roman Empire put an end to the persecution of Christians in the empire and, moreover, proclaimed Christianity the state religion. He was born in 280 in Naiss, which is located on the territory of modern Serbia. His father was a military leader. The youth of the future head of the empire spent at the court of the emperor Diocletian in Nicomedia. When the young man was 25 years old, the emperor abdicated his throne, as a result of which Constantine's father became the ruler of the western part of the empire. A year later, he died and Constantine ascended the throne. By 312, he had won a decisive victory over his political rivals and established his authority in the western part of the empire. By his authority, he legalized until that time the forbidden and oppressed Christian teaching and encouraged its dissemination. In 324, Constantine defeated the emperor of the eastern part of the empire Licinius and became the sole ruler. In 337, he fell ill with pneumonia and went to Nicomedia, where he died on May 22 of the same year. On this day according to the church calendar, his memory is celebrated, as well as the day of the angel Constantine. The date of celebration according to the civil calendar falls on June 3.
January 8. Rev. Constantine of Sinad (Phrygian)
This saint came from a Jewish family living in the city of Sinade. He converted to Christianity in his youth, leaving his paternal house in a monastery, where he was baptized, and then monasticism. The church honors him as a saint, celebrating annually the memory of January 8. On this day, the name day of Konstantin is celebrated by men baptized in his honor.
June 3rd. Murom Prince Constantine
The prince was born in the 70s of the 11th century in the family of the Grand Duke of Kiev Yaroslav Svyatoslavich. In 1097 he received the inheritance of the Principality of Chernigov. In addition, by coincidence, he had to reign in Murom and Ryazan. In 1110, Konstantin lost the Chernigov throne, which was occupied by his nephew Vsevolod Olegovich. Therefore, he retired to Murom, where he lived until his death in 1129. The church is revered as one of the holy Russian princes. The day of his memory and the name day of Konstantin are celebrated on June 3 according to the civilian calendar.
