Most users know the important role RAM plays in the entire computer system, because it is partially responsible for the speed of the software environment, and the lack of free space due to overloading or excessive use of useless services and processes often affects the entire system as a whole. It is clear that it needs to be somehow freed and unused components are unloaded from it. But how? To do this, you will need some kind of program for optimizing RAM, since there are no such tools on Windows systems (although you can partially optimize the use of RAM, which will be discussed separately).
General principles of RAM optimization
To begin, let's decide what exactly is the optimization of RAM. Each application and the process activated by the system or by the user at startup immediately puts its own modules into RAM (usually these are related executable components in the form of dynamic libraries). If the program or system service in the process also involves some kind of hardware or a virtual device, respectively, the driver components necessary for their correct functioning are loaded into RAM.
Over time, when filling the available volume reaches a critical point, the threshold for which sets Windows itself, virtual memory comes into play. Everything would be fine, but if you close any applications or stop using the necessary equipment, their components and drivers still remain dead weight. Even the use of virtual memory does not help (and usually even harms). Thus, any program for optimizing RAM in Windows 10 or systems of a rank lower should somehow unload resource-intensive components that are not currently in use.
How to optimize RAM using Windows?
Before considering specific examples of using specialized software, we will briefly dwell on the means of Windows systems. It is for optimizing the RAM that there are no programs in any modification. However, you can use the RAM testing tools or improve the system performance by changing the virtual memory settings (paging file size).
By default, the system sets the required size of the pagefile.sys component, which is responsible for the space allocated on the hard disk for the needs of virtual memory, automatically, which is not always positively displayed on the computer. If you set a very large volume of VIs, programs and system services will ignore RAM, referring to the hard drive. But the speed of access to the HDD is much lower than to RAM.
Thus, one of the solutions is to completely disable the swap file (for RAM volumes of about 8 GB or more, you can not use VPs at all, which is confirmed by numerous expert advice).
Narrowly targeted programs for optimizing RAM
Now briefly dwell on third-party software products. Of course, it will not be possible to describe the absolute majority of programs for optimizing RAM purely physically, therefore, we will consider highly targeted utilities using the Wise Memory Optimizer application as an example, and also briefly dwell on applications of the class of optimizers (general purpose accelerators), which also have similar modules in their toolkits.
The program for optimizing the RAM WMO is perhaps one of the best and easiest, which a user of any level of training can deal with. After installing and launching the applet, the parameters window displays information about the occupied and unused RAM.
By and large, to perform optimization, you just need to click the button located just below. If you need to use additional settings, in the parameters section you can set the RAM load limit, upon reaching which the memory will be automatically cleaned. But the options set by default can not be changed. You can also agree to start the application with the OS, so that optimization is carried out constantly and without your participation.
Programs for optimizing RAM in Windows 7 and higher: an example of using the accelerator and ASC cleaner
Some optimizers also have their own automatic cleaning modules. For example, there is such a module in the Pro modification of the popular Advanced SystemCare application. It can be used in different ways. You can run the cleaning once or automate the process. A huge plus of the program is that you can select the desired level of cleaning. If you do not have the necessary knowledge, it is better to leave the settings unchanged.
However, with knowledge of the matter, you can set up deep cleaning, simultaneously using additional options, which will best affect the performance of the entire computer system.
Naturally, there are a lot of programs in this direction today, and only two main examples were considered above. If you wish, you can use any other application that seems to you the most suitable and optimal solution. But all the same, there is no consensus among experts regarding the advisability of using such utilities.
