Among other things, they were destined to become the parents of one of the greatest Russian saints - St. Sergius of Radonezh. February 8th. Martyr Mary (Tefani)
Martyr Mary was born in 1878 in Odessa. She was not a nun, and all her life she was a simple parishioner of Orthodox churches. In 1937, she was arrested on charges of counter-revolutionary activity and shot. Mary was counted among the saints in 200. Her memory date is February 8th. February 8th. Confessor Maria (Korepova)
This woman was born in 1877 in the Vologda province. After the revolution, in 1919, she entered one of the monasteries of the Yaroslavl province. The cloister was closed in 1927. Then Maria settled in the city of Poshekhonye-Volodarsk. Nine years later, she was arrested for participating in an anti-Soviet church organization and sentenced to five years in correctional camps. In 1942, the nun was released. Her further fate is unknown. She was glorified in the face of saints in 2000. The day of the angel Mary, baptized in her honor, is celebrated on the date of her memory - February 8.
On the same day, it is necessary to recall another Mary - the Martyr from the Moscow province, born into the world in 1888. In 1916, she entered one of the monasteries, which was subsequently closed. For participation in anti-Soviet activities, she was exiled to Kazakhstan in 1931, where she remained to live after the expiration of the term of exile. For participation in church activities and material assistance to exiles, she was again arrested in 1937 and sentenced to death. In 200, she was counted among the saints, setting the day of church remembrance on February 8. Like all other new martyrs, she is also remembered on January 26th. February 8th. Rev. Mary of Constantinople
This saint came from Constantinople and was a noble city dweller. She was married and had two sons. When the children grew up, the parents sent them to study in Beirut, but the ship was shipwrecked, and the brothers were thrown to different banks. In sorrow for separation, they became a monk, and their parents thought their children were dead. A few years later, the couple went on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, where, visiting various monasteries, they met among the monks, first one and then their second son.
Out of gratitude to the Lord, they dedicated the rest of their lives to ministry and even became famous for miracles. The day of the angel Mary, named in honor of this reverend, like many of her other namesakes, is celebrated on February 8.
