Aquarium fish: comet. Description, photos and features of the content

Goldfish are rightfully considered the most popular residents of amateur aquariums. Their prevalence is explained, first of all, of course, by their beautiful appearance and unpretentiousness. This underwater creature belongs to the Karasev family. A very large number of bred varieties is what, among other things, distinguishes these wonderful golden aquarium fish. The comet, for example, is one of the most interesting and unusual breeding forms of domestic "crucians", and it is very beautiful.

general description

Purely outwardly, the comet is pretty much like an ordinary goldfish. At least her standard color is exactly the same. But, of course, there is a significant difference between the two species. The body of an aquarium fish is a comet, photos of the bark are presented on the page, it is not as thick as gold, but flat and elongated. The fins of this fish are thin, delicate and quite long, and the scales are small, bright.

The color of comets can be not only gold, but also orange, red, silver. The varieties of this fish are very appreciated in which the body color differs from the shade of the fins and tail. Many exotic lovers also contain a black comet. Aquarium fish of this color looks really very impressive and unusual. This comet even has its own name - "Black Velvet".

What should be an aquarium

Of course, to equip the tank for this underwater creature, as for any other, should be correct. The water parameters in the bank are determined taking into account, among other things, where the homeland of the aquarium fish is located. The comet was once brought to Europe and Russia from Southeast Asia. In this part of the world, crucian carp usually live in stagnant, clean, not too deep water bodies. Initially, goldfish were kept in Europe only in summer garden ponds. Later, these unpretentious beauties began to be planted in aquariums.

Thus, the comet is not demanding on the conditions of its content. The jar is suitable for her standard amateur, equipped with a filter. The comet does not like too strong a current. Therefore, the filter should be used with a sprinkler. The compressor in the aquarium in this case does not need to be installed. It is not necessary to purchase a heater for this fish. The comet also feels great at room temperature (from 18 to 30 ° C). The optimal parameters for this fish are considered to be 19-23 ° C.

In most cities of Russia, drinking water is produced from wells, and has a rather high rigidity and slightly alkaline reaction. Such parameters for a comet are very good. In terms of stiffness and acidity - this is a completely undemanding fish. Comets also feel good in soft, slightly sour water. The stiffness parameters for this fish are suitable at 8-25 °, acidity pH 6-8.

It is believed that a filter should be installed in a comet aquarium. The fact is that these fish are quite voracious and quickly pollute the water. Changes in an aquarium with comets are required weekly by ¼ volume. Siphoning the soil is also worth periodically.

Aquarium dimensions

Quite large sizes are what distinguish such aquarium fish. The comet at home can reach a length of 15 cm (without fins). Therefore, this fish should be kept only in large aquariums. With some stretch for a comet, a 50-liter capacity is also suitable. However, it is better to plant this fish in an aquarium of at least 60 liters. The best option is a 100-liter can for two individuals. In the aquarium of 150 l, you can already plant 4 of these fish, and for 200 l - six.

Lighting

Comet ( aquarium fish ) is also absolutely undemanding to this parameter. Lighting is necessary for her. But too strong lamps should not be installed in an aquarium with comets. Due to the intense continuous light, the color of the fish may fade. In order for the comets to be bright enough, the lamp in the aquarium must be installed so that several bright and several shaded areas form inside.

Neighbors

A very calm disposition is what these aquarium fish certainly differ in. The comet usually does not cause too much trouble to its owners. This aquatic inhabitant is most often kept in a species aquarium. But sometimes these fish are planted in common. In the latter case, together with comets, they usually hold a vivipar, catfish and various trifles (zebrafish, neon, etc.). Putting these carp in one aquarium with very active fish is highly discouraged. Barbuses, macropods, gourami can bite comets with their beautiful fins and tails.

Plants

To design an aquarium with comets, the owner can at his discretion. Of course, it is worth planting in a tank with these fish, including various kinds of underwater plants. Unfortunately, not all green "neighbors" are suitable for comets. In the aquarium with this fish, it is customary to plant only plants with fairly dense and wide leaves and a powerful root system. Kambobu and hornwort comets can nibble. In addition, this fish loves to dig in the ground. And therefore, on small-leaved plants, turbidity will accumulate in such an aquarium.

How to feed

Many owners of comet aquariums give them mostly dry quality servants. This is perfectly acceptable. Such feed, even in fairly large quantities, does not pollute the water too much. But you can, of course, give comets and natural food.

The basis of the diet of these fish should be feed of animal origin. You can give comets bloodworms, earthworms, finely chopped sea fish. From time to time, comets should be pampered with plant foods - boiled carrots, large bran, etc. Vitamins of this living creature, like any other, are, of course, necessary.

Repeated feeding in small portions - this method is preferred by almost all aquarium fish. The comet in this regard is no exception. With this method of feeding, the color of these fish becomes brighter. But to give this aquarium creature, like any other, too much food, of course, is not worth it. Due to obesity, comets can have problems with internal organs, which will lead to a decrease in immunity, frequent illnesses and, possibly, even death.

Comet propagation

These fish reach puberty in the second year of life. Propagating comets is not too difficult. Such fish spawn usually in March-April. A couple is planted in an aquarium of 100 liters. At the same time, the water temperature in it is raised by about two degrees. At the bottom of the spawning grounds they put a net to preserve caviar. Fry hatch on the fifth day after spawning. They are usually fed live dust or daphnia.
