Many pickles and preserves are prepared for the winter. Of course, in order for them to stand for a long time, it is necessary to properly prepare the container. We will talk about how to sterilize banks for prefabs in this article.
This is a completely simple matter. It is only necessary to complete all stages carefully and as carefully as possible. There are some simple ways to achieve the destruction of microbes on glassware. So, how to sterilize banks without using any
additional equipment quickly and efficiently? Most often, housewives practice the most reliable and easiest way - on a gas stove. First of all, of course, the cans should be thoroughly rinsed with water. You can also add soda to it and soak the container for a few minutes.
Next, take a large pot and fill it with water by about a third. You can put a special grill on the bottom. Then clean cans are set down in the pan with their necks down. After that, turn on the gas and boil water for 10 - 15 minutes. The grate is needed so that when boiling, the banks do not hit each other and do not break. It is advisable to roll vegetables or fruits in them immediately after
drying out. In addition to the cans themselves, lids should also be sterilized. To do this, pour a little water into a metal cup (preferably enameled), put the lids on and boil for 2-3 minutes. You can’t do it any longer, since overheating may cause the rubber seal ring to deform.
How to sterilize jars in the oven
This is also not a very complicated method, familiar to many housewives. In the event that you have an oven with a thermostat, it will probably be the most convenient for you. The fact is that with such equipment, you can sterilize several cans at once. The oven should be preheated to 100 degrees. At higher temperatures, glass containers may burst. Next, the banks put on the grill. If they are wet, they should be set upside down. Thus, the water has time to evaporate. Dry dishes can be placed with their neck down. The jars should be in the oven for about 15–20 minutes. During this time, all unwanted microorganisms will be killed. It is best to leave the jars after turning them off in the oven until cool.
How to sterilize cans in the microwave
This method is also very convenient and often practiced by housewives. Its minus may lie in the fact that not all containers will go into the microwave. However, if necessary, three- and two-liter cans can be put inside on the side, having previously poured a little water into them. The dishes are heated for about 2-3 minutes after boiling water, the level of which should be about 1 cm.
How can sterilize jars using a pan with a special lid
Currently, a special lid for pots can be purchased at the store, designed to sterilize glass containers. Options with holes of different diameters are sold. Using such equipment is very easy. You just need to pour water into the pan, close the lid and put the jar in the hole. Sterilization is carried out for about 15 minutes. Then, as usual, the jar is removed and put on a towel to dry.
So, now you know how to properly sterilize jars for pickles and jams. Using one of the methods described above, you will insure yourself against such troubles as clouding of a brine or spontaneous opening of covers during storage.
