Dwemer Gears in Skyrim: Varieties

Dwemer Gears and Ruins are the only remnants of the extinct civilization in the world of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Periodically, glimpses of working systems slip in one corner, then in another. Moreover, as a rule, underground. What kind of devices are they and why are they created will be discussed in the article.

About Dwemer

Very little is known about this race. Their name translates as "Smart Elf" or "Deep Elf". The greatest mystery of this civilization lies in their own extinction. Not a single body of a representative of the Dwemer people was found: only ruins with mechanisms that work after many centuries, inhabited by automatons guarding treasures. The most common Dwemer mechanisms encountered in Skyrim are spiders, spheres, and centurions.

Dwemer spider mechanism

Spider

Small arachnid creatures are found in ruins as guards and maintenance personnel of Dwemer mechanisms. There are three types of spiders in Skyrim:

  • ordinary;
  • working;
  • guard spider.

These mechanical creatures are resistant to damage from fire or cold, as well as to critical hits. Some automatons explode when defeated in battle. They are delivered to the place of battle by special viaducts and steam mechanisms. Dovakin can collect trophies from them in the form of soul stones, pieces of ore, precious stones and scrap metal.

Dwemer Sphere in Skyrim

Sphere

A more mobile version of the Dwemer mechanisms designed for protection. At rest - an ordinary ball, which opens, being put on alert. A humanoid structure is being advanced from the sphere, armed with a blade and crossbow. Such an opponent is resistant to electricity and fire, and is also immune to cold magic. Like spiders, they are divided into three types:

  • ordinary sphere;
  • guardian;
  • master.

They are delivered to battle with the main character in the same ways - through pipes. Due to mobility, these mechanisms are easier to destroy than to run away from them. Soul stones, Dwemer scrap metal, and crossbow bolts (in the Guardian of the Dawn DLC) remain as trophies.

Dwemer Centurion Skyrim

Centurion

The most formidable of all the Dwemer mechanisms of Skyrim. Outwardly, they are giant humanoid automatons operating on the energy of steam, as well as the core of the centurion generator. Armed with a hammer and a blade, and also attack at a considerable distance by a stream of steam, which causes fire damage. Very tenacious, immune to screams, but rather slow. These Dwemer mechanisms are vulnerable to fire, and the core of the centurion generator and the Great Soul Stone fall as a reward.

There are also three types:

  • ordinary centurion;
  • guardian;
  • master.

Total

In conclusion, it should be said that the Dwemer mechanisms and ruins are the only thing left of the gone civilization. But the fact that all this still works testifies to the unprecedented grandeur of the Dwemer in terms of the development of scientific and technological thought.

There are three versions of the extinction of the race:

  • the chief architect Kagrenak accidentally destroyed everyone, unable to cope with the energy of the Heart of Lorkhan;
  • he nevertheless coped with the artifact and transferred relatives to the External Dimensions, where they all gained immortality;
  • the Daedra became angry and wiped the Dwemer from Nirn's face.

No one knows which of these options is true.
