Often, documents that were created in an Excel spreadsheet editor are printed. But the table is not always printed as needed. Often page breaks are not in the places where I would like and in the end it turns out that in printed form it is much more difficult to perceive. The way out of this situation is to remove unnecessary gaps. This article will tell you how to remove line breaks on a page in Excel 2016 release. In total, four ways to accomplish this task will be offered.
We remove all the gaps
First of all, we will analyze the situation when it is necessary to remove gaps created manually by the user. Suppose we see a lot of gaps on a sheet in the program that are easier to remove and make new ones. In this case, it will be easier to use the special function of the program than manually deleting each one individually one by one:
- Open the book with the desired table in the program.
- Click the Layout tab.
- Click on the “Breaks” button, which is located in the “Page Setup” tool group.
- In the menu that appears, click on the “Reset page breaks” item.
Immediately after that, all unnecessary tears will be deleted. By the way, if you are thinking about how to remove page breaks in Excel 2010, then the procedure is exactly the same.
We remove a separate gap
It’s good how to remove page breaks at Excel, we all figured out right away, but what if only a few bothers you. Do not delete everything, and then reinstall the necessary ones? You don’t have to do this, because there is a special button that allows you to delete a separate gap:
- Again, run the book with the table you need.
- Select the cell next to the gap you want to remove. In the case of a horizontal line, select the cell below it. And in the case of a vertical divider - on the right.
- Click the Layout tab.
- In the "Page Setup" toolbar, click on the "Breaks" button.
- In the context menu that appears, select the option “Delete page break”.
As you can see, the action algorithm is very similar to the one used in the previous method. As a result, you will notice that the selected gap has been deleted, respectively, you have learned the second way how to remove the page break in Excel.
We remove the gap by moving it
If you do not want to remove the gap each time, if necessary, to go through a lot of all kinds of menus, then you can use the unconventional method, which means removing the gap by moving it outside the table itself. Let's look at this method in more detail:
- Having opened the necessary document in the program, go to the book view mode.
- The whole table will be divided into pages by blue lines, which exactly indicate the gap.
- Hover over the gap you don't like.
- Hold the left mouse button.
- Without releasing it, drag the cursor to the very bottom of the table.
As soon as you do this and the line goes beyond the border of the sheet, you will get rid of the unnecessary gap. By the way, if you wish, you can simply move it to another place. With the third method, how to remove the page break in Excel, we figured out, now we move on to the last - to the fourth.
We remove automatically created gap
We discussed how to remove manually created gaps, but what about automatic ones? Now let's talk about this. It’s worth saying right away that it’s impossible to completely get rid of them, but you can shift it so that it is digestible:
- Run the program with the desired document open.
- Switch to page mode.
- Hover over the dotted line. It is for her that the breaks placed automatically by the program are indicated.
- Hold the left mouse button.
- Drag the cursor to the desired location.
After that, the gap will either disappear or be moved to another location. Now you know all four ways to remove page breaks in Excel in 2016, but do not forget that they can be removed in the same way in all other versions of the program.
