Which border tape is better?
All tapes are made of neutral, environmentally friendly plastic. Most often, Russian (cheapest), Chinese, Polish and German (most expensive) are on sale. The width of the border tape can be 10, 15, 20 or 28 centimeters. Thickness varies from half a millimeter to two mm. These parameters affect the cost of the product. The most convenient in operation is a border tape of maximum thickness. The reinforced edge will give it greater strength, however, to the detriment of elasticity.
A high-quality product has the following properties: resistance to sunlight, which allows not to fade and not heat up, the ability to withstand temperatures from -50 to +50 degrees. In addition, plastic does not rustle in the rain, does not rot and does not decompose, does not release toxic substances into the soil and does not contribute to the development of mold. Usually a border tape serves 5 years.
Installation
First you need to outline the contour of the future beds or flower beds in order to have an idea of how the border tape will be installed. Photos of various options for such facilities can be found in landscape design magazines. You can also come up with something of your own, suitable in general mood for the design of the site or garden in order to maximize its useful area. If you plan to plant annuals, then you can tack the tape by 10 centimeters, for perennial plants it is better to deepen it by 20. Bends of the contour are created due to driven in pegs. For installation, two people are needed - one pulls the tape, and the second densely sprinkles it with earth.
If the length is not enough, the beginning of the next can be welded to the end of one roll with a hot soldering iron. If there is excess, then the plastic can easily be cut with a garden pruner or large scissors.
