Sometimes it happens that the browser cannot load links. At first you think it’s because of internet problems, but no. Online applications work, torrent files are downloaded, Wi-Fi works on a mobile phone, but why do not the links open? What to do? In this article, we list the main causes and solutions.
If you encounter this problem, then even with the Internet, the browser will give false information that you have a connection problem, because of this, links do not open.
This problem does not depend on which version of the OS or browser you have. In addition, it may not affect all links, but only social networks or search engines.
The easiest solutions
Before starting a detailed study of your device and any technical information about it, we will try the simplest and most common solution methods.
If the links do not open not only on the computer, but also on mobile devices, this may be the problem of the router or the Internet itself. In this case, we recommend that you contact your provider or check if the router is working properly.
Sometimes the easiest way to solve all problems helps is to reboot the computer, but this is not always effective. You can also try rebooting the router or reconnecting the Internet cable to it.
Another reason may be changing the settings of the antivirus. To get started, try disabling the protection program for a while and try clicking the link again. If the link does not open, the problem may be in the browser settings themselves.
Perhaps you changed some values or installed a program that works online. If after its appearance problems started, then try to remove it and try again.
These were the simplest but not universal options. They do not always help. Below will be presented methods that require more effort, but are more effective. If you tried all these methods, and the links do not open in the browser, read the article further.
DNS Address Issues
This problem can be distinguished by one symptom - when you try to load a page, an error appears that reports that it is impossible to find a DNS server.
This problem can be solved in various ways. If your links do not open only on your computer, change the DNS address values in the connection settings. If this problem arose on all devices, then change its parameters on each of them or in the settings of the router.
An additional tool is flushing the cache. To do this, open a command prompt on Windows and type ipconfig / flushdns into it.
To change the DNS settings, go to the "Control Panel", and then in the "Network and Sharing Center." Find your connection and open its properties. Write down the DNS address from Google: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Values must be written in two different lines.
Change browser properties
Sometimes links do not open due to the proxy server turned on. To check this, go to your browser settings and see if all the settings are set to default.
These values can be changed if there are malware and viruses on your computer. They often appear when visiting unreliable sites, downloading files from which leads to a change in settings.
To fix this problem, you need to go to the "Control Panel". There, find “Browser Properties” or “Education Properties”, depending on your operating system.
Go to the "Connections" tab and select "Network Settings". In the window, check the box next to the "Automatically detect parameters" line. Other checkboxes must be removed to disable proxy servers. After disabling them, the browser should start downloading links.
Viruses
If the above methods did not help you, then most likely there are viruses on your computer. They can change browser settings, Windows network settings, and other data.
To eliminate them, you need to download special cleaning programs, such as Dr.Web or AdwCleaner. Such viruses can also occur, the elimination of which will require reinstalling the operating system.
