Asian cat breeds are very popular in the world. The slanting eyes, the grace of a Japanese geisha and the ballerina’s flying gait make them particularly charming creatures. Therefore, persistent selection work is ongoing to breed even more sophisticated and graceful animals. As a result of such selection, Asian ticking tabby appeared in the 80s of the last century. The breed immediately gained popularity among cat lovers and was recognized by most felinological organizations, in particular, WCF in 1990.
Burmilla served as the basis for the genetic material. Later, other short-haired Asian breeds of domestic cats joined: Persian chinchilla, Abessin and others. As a result of cross-crossing, various patterns of tabby are possible: solid, sepia, silver, spotted, marble, tiger, tics. The main coat colors of the animal can also be different: apricot, cream, blue, caramel, purple, crimson, chocolate and black.
Among others, Asian ticking tabby holds a special place. This cat is physically close to Burmese, but the texture of the fur gives a difference. Like all orientals, it has slightly slanting, almond-shaped eyes with a very spectacular golden iris. The medium-sized ears are directly placed on a small head, their tips are slightly curved and rounded. The belly is lighter than the back. The hind legs are often “shod” in dark socks, and dark rings are visible on the forepaws.
But not the structure of the body makes the breed so wonderful, but the color of the short and soft coat. Asian ticking tabby has two dark marks on each hair. The animal seems to sparkle when stroking its fur. The breed is especially appreciated for this ticking effect. Females have an advantage. For a
vaccinated kitten a breeder may ask for tens of thousands of dollars! Therefore, to have such a beast at home is a symbol of prestige and prosperity.
In addition to the noble appearance, the Asian ticking-tabby also received an intelligent disposition. She does not cry when she is hungry and jealousy, if another animal appears in the house. It gets along well with other cats, dogs and even parrots. She loves to play, but it’s easy for her to explain the line between what is allowed and what is forbidden. At the same time, representatives of the breed are avid couch potatoes. They do not like a change of scenery, do well without walking and can easily endure loneliness. Usually such a cat is attached only to one person, but is friendly to other household members.
Asian ticking tabby has no undercoat. Therefore, the care of her coat is minimal. It is enough to comb it with a thick metal comb during molting. The cat needs a balanced diet. Do not offer her dry food, but rather give preference to natural products. At the same time, one should not forget about vitamins - buy her grass for cats. If you follow all the recommendations for care, as well as systematically show your pet to the veterinarian, he will delight you with excellent health and longevity. This breed has not yet revealed hereditary diseases.
