Shrovetide is a fun, mischievous holiday that is loved by both children and adults. These days you can eat plenty of pancakes, ride a roller coaster and take part in folk entertainment. A bit of history
Originally Pancake week was a pagan holiday, marking the arrival of spring. These days, a stuffed winter was made from straw and solemnly burned. There were a lot of delicious dishes on the tables, which symbolized the people's hope for a rich harvest. The main delicacy is pancakes - a prototype of the sun, heat. With the adoption of Orthodoxy, the holiday was transformed into a religious one. He manages before Great Lent.
The traditional competitions for Pancake Week were fist fights "wall to wall", the storming of a snow fortress with its destruction, playful fights during which people helped spring to overcome winter. The mummers walked through the villages, perky dances were arranged. A must have been skiing from the mountains. How to organize a fun holiday for a friendly company? First of all, choose the appropriate scenario. On Maslenitsa, you can arrange a theatrical performance in which buffoons, Winter and Spring, and fairy-tale characters will take part. In extreme cases, you can do one perky leading. He will hold competitions, in between, telling about the traditions of the celebration of Maslenitsa.
Divide the audience into two teams: “winter” and “spring”. Invite them to measure their strength. Winter does not just want to give way. Spring must prove that it is worthy of this honor and is ready to withstand all the trials.
Maslenitsa competitions on the street
If weather permits, the holiday is held in the fresh air. Games must be mobile so that guests do not freeze in the cold. For competitions on Maslenitsa you will need inventory: two sledges, two brooms, skittles or small plastic bottles of water, two twigs.
- Winter is the best time to play snowballs. Invite teams to first roll up as many snowballs as possible in a certain time, and then shoot down targets (pins, bottles) with them.
- Sledging. Two players sit with their backs to each other and try to overcome the distance as quickly as possible. They run back, carrying the sled behind them. All team members must take part in the relay.
- Skittles are placed in a row. The participants, riding a broom, run around them with a "snake". On the way back you need to put down the skittles and transfer the pomelo to the next player.
- At a certain distance from the teams, two circles are drawn. Players take turns running up to them, plotting a ray with a twig and returning back, passing the baton to the next participant. The team that draws the sun faster wins.
- Salki. Those gathered together do exercises, repeating movements behind the leader. Suddenly he shouts out the name of the team, for example: "Winter!" Her players are trying to catch up and ruin as many of their rivals as possible, who are in a hurry to hide in a pre-drawn "house". Those who were able to touch are eliminated from the competition. The game continues until members of only one team remain on the field.
Indoor competitions
After the fun on the street, the seasons are reconciled. Frosty Winter agrees to give way to a bright, blooming Spring. All those present are invited to hot pancake tea.
In the room you can also hold a series of competitions for children. On Shrovetide, they can be associated with traditional dishes.
- Stock up on cardboard pancakes in advance. Hide them in unexpected places and invite the kids to find blanks.
- With the found "pancakes" arrange relay races. Invite the children to cover the distance by jumping by holding cardboard circles between the knees. Then lay them on your head. The most difficult option is to carry “pancakes” on the stomach, standing in the “cuttlefish” position (with support on the feet and palms).
- Prepare an obstacle course by placing the pancakes in a row at a short distance from each other. Children must jump over them. Then arrange a race around the "pancakes" "snake".
- Put pancakes on the floor. There should be one less than the players. The children dance to the music, and when it stops, they are in a hurry to take a "pancake". Whoever failed, is eliminated. The number of players and “pancakes” decreases each time.
In addition to competitions, on Maslenitsa you can have fun riding from the mountains, round dances, riddles. With children, make a doll figurine from sticks, a broom and old clothes. At the end of the festival, they burn it, and with it burn all the insults, problems and discontent.
