Have you noticed that sometimes when you enter the system at the boot stage or when you exit sleep mode, the constant request to enter the password of the current user is incredibly annoying? Of course, through the use of passwords, a higher level of protection of personal data is provided, but what to do if you urgently need to do something on your computer terminal or laptop, or you simply forgot the current combination and cannot enter the system or exit sleep mode ? In this case, you will need to disable the password request in Windows 10 at all levels (both at the entrance and at the exit). How to do this, then we'll figure it out. Below the proposed methods are quite simple, however, some of them in certain editions of the system may not be available (meaning blocking access to group policies in the home modification). We take Windows 10 as an example only, and the methods described below work in all recent versions, including the eighth and seventh ones (some can even be used in Vista and XP).
Introduction: Possible Consequences of Disabling Password
Before starting to consider the methods of disabling password verification in Windows 10, let's briefly dwell on what this can lead to if we consider only the negative consequences. The main problem is that under your current registration, anyone can turn on the system, including your terminal, which may entail unauthorized access to personal data or confidential information. The same applies to outsiders entering the system (access to a PC can be quite elementary, and the lack of password protection makes the task much easier). On the other hand, at home, if you are your own administrator, using passwords looks very impractical and is used only in cases where you want to restrict access to a computer for your household or children. But in offices or at enterprises it is better to think a hundred times before deactivating password entry when entering Windows 10 or when exiting hibernation modes.
Will changing account type help?
Some users mistakenly believe that you can simply change the type of registration used by installing instead of the standard “account”, say, created at the stage of system installation or in the account management section of a running OS, Microsoft registration. This method does not disable passwords, because for the "account" of Microsoft itself, the presence of a password (and quite complicated) is required.
Disabling a password in Windows 10: options
Now directly on the deactivation of passwords, taking into account all possible situations. Of course, you can disable the use of password combinations to enter the system and to exit the standby mode (sleep or hibernation). You can deactivate passwords yourself using the following tools:
- standard account management section when logging in at administrator level;
- a similar section in the options menu;
- Group Policy Settings
- system registry;
- power scheme settings;
- special software.
Password reset in Windows 10 using the standard method
The first technique concerns logging into the system when a window with the requirement to enter the installed combination is displayed at the stage of system boot. To disable the password in Windows 10, call the classic "Control Panel" with the control command in the "Run" menu, go to the accounts section, and then use the control of a different registration.
In the new window, click on the avatar of your “account”, and then on the right click the password change link, enter the current combination, and leave the fields for the new password empty. Then you just have to save the changes by pressing the confirmation button.
Command method for deactivating password requests
An easier way to disable a password in Windows 10 is to use a special tool called from the Run console. It allows you to deactivate password entry requests for all registered users.
To do this, use a special command to disable the password in Windows 10 and then deactivate the mandatory requirement, as shown in the image above. You can also use a similar combination of netplwiz for access . This combination opens the same section with the same settings.
Manage passwords and login options through options
If anyone does not know, in the tenth version of Windows there is not one control panel for the main options, but two. The first is standard, the second is the Options menu. Disabling the password in Windows 10 using the second tool is quite simple.
You can call up the required section either through the main menu or through the settings displayed in the Start menu when you press the button with horizontal stripes and select the item for changing registration parameters. Then simply change the password, specifying empty fields for the new one, as in the previous case.
Note: if you have activated PIN codes or graphic keys, you will also need to get rid of them.
Turn off registry login requests
Now let's move on to more complex techniques. To set up an automated login without a password, it is better to use the registry settings (regedit). In the editor, through you need to navigate the HKLM branch to the WinLogon section.
On the right is the AutoAdminLogon key, for which you need to change the value by setting the unit. If there is no such parameter, create it yourself. Here you can also add domain login options or even change the username for which automatic login with the specified password will be used. Please note that in this case you do not need to change or delete the current passwords in the system itself.
Deactivate passwords on exiting sleep and hibernation
Disabling a password in Windows 10 when exiting hibernation is done using several methods using standard settings, group policy settings, the registry, or power scheme options.
From the registration management section called up via the settings menu, use the login settings item located in the list on the left, and then if you have an active password, select “Never” from the list of actions to request it.
In the policies (gpedit.msc), use the computer configuration, administrative templates and the system section, find the power management directory, which contains the sleep mode settings subsection, then completely disable the two password entry requirements on the right in the work area (for power from the network and from batteries if you are using a laptop) as shown in the image above.
Options are deactivated by disabling them when editing.
You can do the same with the registry, because the policy options in it are completely duplicated. The registry has a higher priority, so you can change the options set in the policies in it. If you set the same parameters in the registry in the policies, changing the settings will not work.
Go through the HKLM branch and go down to section 0e796bdb-100d-47d6-a2d5-f7d2daa51f51 (if you don’t find one in the PowerSettings main folder, create it yourself), and in the right window, create DWORD keys ACSettingsIndex and DCSettingsIndex, then for each of them set the value to zero. At the end of the action, you must restart the computer!
Finally, call up the power management section (on a laptop it’s easiest to use the menu available through RMB on the battery icon in the tray), in the current scheme, go to advanced settings and / or currently unavailable settings, and then find the password entry item in the list and set it to No.
Special software
Finally, let's return to deactivating passwords at login. If for some reason the above methods seemed to you too complicated, use the Autologon for Windows utility, which can be downloaded from the official Microsoft Essentials resource. After that, run the program from the executable file (it is portable and does not require installation), enter the current username with a valid password, and then just click the Enable button . After the reboot, you can log into the system automatically and without confirming the protective combination.
