As you know, to download content from the Internet via torrents using P2P (peer-to-peer) technology, many programs have been created, among which the Media Get application is one of the most popular. But very often, users notice that in certain situations Media Get does not download files. The reasons for this may be quite a large number, so it is worthwhile to dwell on their consideration separately, taking into account the most relevant solutions and methods for correcting the situation.
Why doesn't Media Get download games or any other files?
As for the main reasons for this behavior of the program, in each case, failures can depend on many factors. However, it is generally accepted that Media Get does not download games or any other content exclusively in the following situations:
- no internet connection;
- for the selected downloads there are no distributing computers (seeds and feasts);
- the client application is blocked by a firewall or antivirus;
- the program has incorrect settings for the connection;
- client version is outdated.
Based on the above list, we begin to search for the most effective solutions for each situation.
What to do if Media Get doesn’t download files?
First of all, check your own Internet connection. In particular, we are talking about the fact that on computers the connection icon can be displayed in the system tray as an active icon, but in fact the connection is absent as such. Just open a website on the Internet through a browser and make sure everything is OK with the connection.
In the case of Wi-Fi-based wireless networks, sometimes it may be necessary to completely reboot the router (router or ADSL modem operating in distribution mode), de-energize it for 10-15 seconds, and then turn it on again.
In the case of the absence of distributing computers, alas, no action will help you. In such a situation, if you see that Media Get does not download files, simply download another torrent file from the tracker, for which a sufficient number of seeds and peers are displayed in the list.
Troubleshoot a firewall
However, the most common problems are usually associated with the fact that in Windows-systems this software client is blocked by built-in security features.
That is why immediately after installation, if the trust warning was not issued by the operating system at the first start of the application, the program will need to be added to the list of exceptions.
But if Media Get doesn’t download precisely because of blocking by the firewall, make sure that this is true. To get started, simply turn off the firewall in the corresponding section of the Control Panel. If everything works after deactivation, but you really need a firewall, open its settings and add Media Get to the list of allowed applications.
If this does not work, you will have to create two new rules for the program (for incoming and outgoing connections) in the additional settings of the firewall, specify the path to the executable file of the start, and then save the changes, just in case, completely rebooting the computer.
Antivirus Exceptions
The same goes for some anti-virus applications. In this case, the technology is almost the same. First, disable both the antivirus itself and its built-in firewall, which theoretically can block part of the traffic. When downloading the distribution package at boot time, you may need to completely disable the antivirus or all kinds of optimizer protection programs that can recognize Media Get as a potentially dangerous or undesirable software (sometimes after downloading they simply spontaneously delete the installation file or block it).
