Hedgehog Silver from "Sonic"

Silver from Sonic is a kindhearted and well-intentioned hedgehog, driven by a strong sense of justice and wanting to correct the mistakes of the past in order to maintain peace, although he is somewhat naive and clearly young. Despite the monumental tasks that Silver sets himself, he is an optimist and will do everything necessary to protect his home world.

Appearance

Silver is a light gray (almost white) anthropomorphic hedgehog with white fur on its chest, surrounding its neck, golden eyes and brown skin. He has two large spikes on the back of his head, and five different spikes can be seen on his forehead, two of which partially cover his ears.

Silver's clothing from Sonic consists of white gloves with blue circles and lines leading to his gold bracelets. His blue-white-blue boots are decorated with gold and red precious stones.

Character

Silver from Sonic has a keen sense of justice, and it is this personality trait that motivates him to return to the past in order to fix the future. He believes in the support of those who need his help. This made him accept Blaze, while the others teased her for her pyrokinetic abilities.

When he pursues an enemy, he does so with relentless determination. He very easily concludes alliances and enters into a rivalry, and he is also able to arouse people's confidence without special difficulties. In Sonic Boom, Silver is portrayed as an optimist (although, as he stated in Sonic Forces himself, he is not only an optimist, but also a realist). Despite the seeming seriousness at times, Silver is young and somewhat infantile. Blaze describes him as naive and impulsive. As a rule, he adheres to positive thinking and never gives up hope, no matter how hopeless the situation is.

Silver from “Sonic” shows both anger and joy very intensely and violently, but he prefers to hide sadness. He calmly allows his fury to take control of himself and merrily recalls the things that make him happy, but he is unlikely to say at least one word about his sadness, although everyone usually notices it. However, although he may be sad, he never falls into despair, always looking for the right solution. His determination and insensitivity to pain can make him a very frightening opponent.

Silver from "Sonic" is very courageous and brave, he is ready to fearlessly sacrifice himself for the sake of others. Absolutely unshakable in the face of danger, he is courageous almost to the point of madness and is ready to fight evil to the last, not really thinking about his safety.

Intuition and pride

Despite Silver’s naivety and general lack of critical thinking, he is not too stupid. Even Eggman Nega called him insightful, and Silver was the first to reveal his perfect disguise. Having little information on which he relies, he allows his intuition to guide him, but since he is a slightly enclosed being, he has little understanding of interpersonal relationships or subtle manipulation tools.

He seems to have a tendency to compete, and at the height of the confrontation he becomes somewhat arrogant, as is seen in Sonic Rivals 2: when you play for him and face your opponent, Silver says: “I am better.” This looks especially comical in games in which the player gets Silver against Sonic. If you win the race or battle, he arrogantly asks: “Who is the best?”

In Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, when you win the race, he says: “I won’t be scared of anything!” In Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) and Sonic 3, Silver usually refers to Iblis monsters and Eggman robots as “garbage,” talking about himself in a smug tone when defeating them.

When Silver meets someone who stands in his way, especially in Sonic Rivals and Sonic Rivals 2, he can be very quick-tempered and a little domineering towards everyone who clearly does not help him in his mission, and sometimes even becomes hostile and begins the fight with the unlucky character.

Silver sometimes does not focus on his current mission or is messing around, but he is a very friendly, interesting and good conversationalist, and therefore can brighten up the moment of waiting for the next task.

Story

Silver has three conflicting backstories for Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). The game’s website says that he came from a happy future that wasn’t destroyed, and in the past it turned out that he knew that his future would be destroyed, and therefore wants to stop this process. Here is such a tricky temporary recursion.

The game manual implies that the game for Silver begins in the present and ends in the future, in which he finds out that his world was destroyed during the events in Sonic the Hedgehog, and goes to look for something that will destroy the future of his world, and returns to past. According to the original story shown in the game, Silver lives in a ruined future and goes back in time to change the future for the better.

Past

Silver at least two hundred or more years in the future of the world of Sonic. In Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), when Sonic, Theils and Knuckles explore the city in which he lives, Knuckles says: “How can this be our future?”

The second and third time the player discovers that Silver’s world is the future of Sonic’s world in Sonic Rivals and Sonic Rivals 2, respectively. Right before Eggman Nega turns this world into a card, Silver explicitly states: “What ?! But that will mean that my future will also be destroyed! ” In Sonic Rivals 2, he tells Espio and Knuckles: “I have to save your world, otherwise my world will also be destroyed!”

Character concept

The creation of a character named Silver began in the early stages of the development of the game Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), when the development team still made huge levels with several options for passing them. Thanks to the new graphics engine that improves the gaming experience, they decided that they want to introduce a new character with unique abilities for an alternative way of passing levels. This led to the fact that Silver got his psychokinetic abilities. Early designs describe Silver's abilities as a “special power” of unknown origin, taken from the Chaos Emeralds, but this idea was ultimately rejected. Despite the numerous battles where Sonic was against Shadow, the protagonist of the series never fought against Silver. Despite this, players can easily play off two characters in many games of the series, for example, in the game Sonic Generations.
