Livarol during pregnancy. Is it worth it?

Many women met with the thrush and know very well how to treat her. Carrying out treatment with alternative methods, you can get rid of this disease, but the result will have to wait a long time and, often, everything has to be repeated several times. That is why with the first symptoms it is worth contacting a gynecologist, because he knows how to help the patient.

But what if Livarol was prescribed during pregnancy? This question is especially scary for those who, taking care of their health, read the instructions even if this medicine is prescribed by a doctor. It is clearly stated in it that the use of this drug in the first trimester - from the beginning of conception to 12 weeks, is contraindicated. Suppositories Livarol during pregnancy in the second and third trimester are also dangerous, but to a lesser extent. Usually, they are used for advanced or chronic variants of the disease.

It is very necessary to treat thrush and do not underestimate its harmfulness. Firstly, it is a fungal disease of the vagina, which is also called vaginal candidiasis. It causes, as the name implies, candida - a fungus that can live on all mucous membranes, including the gastrointestinal tract. An exacerbation occurs if the immunity is sharply reduced. There may be many reasons for this, and pregnant women have even more. It is also worth noting that when carrying a child, the multiplication of fungal cells occurs much faster than at other times. This is caused not only by weak immunity, which works for two, but also by hormonal disruptions.

Livarol during pregnancy, as in any other period, gives about 90% effectiveness. But safer drugs for treating thrush are based on pimafucin or clotrimazole. Ketoconazole, which is the main active component of this drug, can have a negative effect on the fetus. Despite the risk of losing a baby, Livarol from thrush helps much faster and more often than other drugs.

It is not only impossible to ignore this fungus, but it will not work either. The fact is that due to the accelerated development of the disease, the symptoms quickly go to the stage when it is simply impossible to tolerate them. And if curdled secretions can be somehow managed with the help of daily pads, then the unpleasant smell, terrible itching, unbearable burning and inflammation can not be eliminated. But, even if the symptoms do not manifest themselves clearly, it is necessary to treat thrush without fail. The fact is that it threatens with adhesions, inflammation of the pelvic organs, infertility, and for pregnant women not only a miscarriage from nerves due to discomfort, but also infection of the fetus.

Treatment of thrush in newborns is more risky for the health of the child than Livarol suppositories during pregnancy. Almost 75% of expectant mothers encounter this disease during gestation. And, if initially they try to cure it with more gentle means, then in 40-45% of pregnant women who are ill again, previously prescribed drugs will not have the proper effect. The disease can be repeated an unlimited number of times if the treatment was not effective enough. That is why it is important to use Livarol during pregnancy. Another fact in favor of the treatment of thrush is that if the infection occurred in the third trimester, then the vaginal mucosa may not have time to gain proper elasticity and balance, and this is fraught with an increase in the number and degree of gaps during childbirth.

The absorption of ketoconazole into the blood does not exceed 1%, but nevertheless it is the local treatment of the fungus that gives the most positive results. In addition, for the fetus it is much better. A short course of treatment (from 3 to 5 days, very rarely up to 10) avoids the harmful effects on the child. Livarol during pregnancy is not the first drug for treatment, but many turn to it, because its action allows you to quickly recover and not return to this problem.

However, there are cases when even Livarol does not save from thrush. Do not forget that if you continue sexual intercourse with the same partner before and after treatment, then he needs a course of procedures. The fact is that it is men who most often cause re-infection and they may not even be aware of this. The male half of the population practically does not feel this disease and is a carrier of the fungus.

But, if there are no obvious reasons for the recurrence of thrush, and it arises again and again, then the microflora of the pregnant woman is constantly maintained in a certain balance, they carefully monitor the passage of the baby at birth through the birth canal and carry out treatment after childbirth, if necessary. Often, it passes immediately after the birth of the baby.

Be healthy you and your children!
