Where can I see the characteristics of the computer? System Unit Details

The computer has become an indispensable part of work or leisure for many. The system copes with everyday tasks, and more expensive equipment can carry out resource-intensive commands. But not always the cost indicates that we have a powerful "iron". Therefore, it is so important to understand and know where to see the characteristics of the computer.

For what?

Of course, there are those who do not understand at all what this compact "robot" consists of. Someone can only guess. But if one day you decide to build a PC yourself, then definitely remember its main components.

Why do I need to know where to see the characteristics of a computer? Firstly, at least for general development. Of course, much at first will be incomprehensible. But if you carefully understand everything, it will be easier to understand the PC.

Secondly, in the event of a breakdown or some kind of malfunction, it will be possible to independently verify the components and, possibly, without the help of specialists, to cope with the problem. Very often, some problems arise due to some trifle, which is easy to fix on your own. But if the user does not understand anything in the PC, he will have to pay money to a specialist who will fix the error in a few minutes.

What's inside the case?

Thirdly, sooner or later, each user has to update the system. To do this, you need to understand what is already outdated, and what else can work for several years. In this case, you will have to pay attention to the components that are, conduct several tests to understand this issue.

Components

Before you look at the characteristics of a computer, you need to understand what is inside it. Some indicators may not be available, because there are components without which the PC functions normally. In addition, each device inside indicates a particular parameter.

The standard parts of the system unit include:

  • the motherboard on which all the components of the system are located;
  • a processor that manages all the tasks of a PC;
  • a power supply that feeds the entire system with current;
  • RAM, which allows you to save current processes;
  • a hard disk that is a storage of personal data;
  • a video card is an optional detail, but in a modern system it is almost indispensable in graphic processing.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the cooling system. It can be of different types, but does not affect the installed parameters of the components. Its main task is to maintain normal temperature conditions in the system unit.

Motherboard

Of course, to see the characteristics of a computer, just install one of the programs that immediately give information about each component. This is the easiest option. But you can also consider each component separately.

Motherboard

For example, to find out the model of the motherboard, just remove the side cover of the case and look at the notation. Usually in large white letters the model of the platform is indicated. After you can go to any online store to find all the parameters of the motherboard.

There is also an option to use the Win + R combination. In the window, enter the msinfo32 command. A “native” utility will open in which you can find information about the PC. Immediately, on the main tab, there are the items “Main board manufacturer” and “Main board model”. Usually there is the necessary information. But it may not be displayed.

You can try to run the command line and enter two commands in turn: wmic baseboard get Manufacturer and wmic baseboard get product.

If for some reason this method does not suit you, you can download the CPU-Z utility. The Mainboard tab will indicate the manufacturer and model of the motherboard, as well as its characteristics and BIOS updates.

CPU

Where can I see which processor you have? In this case, the method with searching for a chip on the board is not suitable, since almost all the "cores" of the system are closed by a cooler. Therefore, you have to use hardware methods. To do this, use the "My Computer" shortcut. In the window that opens, right-click on an empty area and select "Properties" in the context menu. The system information appears. This is where the information about the PC processor and its characteristics is stored.

Processor specifications

You can also check the model and parameters of the chip in the “Device Manager”. In the window that opens, you need to find the line "Processors" and thus determine its model and some characteristics.

Using the combination Ctrl + Alt + Del, you can open the "Task Manager." Selecting the Performance tab, we again get information about the system chip. And finally, thanks to the same CPU-Z utility, you can get the necessary data.

Power Supply

You can see the characteristics of the computer directly through the system, but not when it comes to the power supply. It so happened that it is impossible to find out the parameters of this device using any software methods. Therefore, in this case, you will have to use the inspection method.

Power Supply Specifications

It is necessary to remove the side cover of the case and inspect the PSU. On one of its sides there is a sticker on which the necessary information is collected. The device model and its power will be immediately written.

RAM

To determine the amount of RAM and its other characteristics, you can turn off the PC, open the case and remove the bar from the motherboard. Each module contains all the necessary memory information.

You can also see data on RAM in the BIOS. To do this, go to the Chipset tab and look at the first lines. It shows the frequency of the module and its volume.

You can also return to My Computer on the desktop. It is enough to click RMB on the free area and select "Properties". In a new window, under the processor model, the amount of RAM will be indicated. But if you need data on the manufacturer, frequencies and other parameters, you will have to take into account another method.

RAM specifications

You need to use the CPU-Z utility to view the characteristics of the computer. To do this, go to the SPD tab. Here, the number of installed modules on the board, memory type, size, frequency and much more will be described.

HDD

Here again, you can use the inspection method. The Winchester is connected so that it is easy to notice in the case and read on the sticker all the necessary information.

You can also go to "My Computer" and look at the connected drives. Below them is indicated the volume. It is enough to sum it to get the total volume of the hard drive.

Railway characteristics

You can also go to the “Device Manager”, find “Disk devices” in the list. The railway model will be indicated here, thanks to which it is possible to collect all the necessary information on the Internet.

Video card

How to find out which video card is in the PC? It should be immediately understood that this device is not always found in systems, so it simply may not be as a separate component. In this case, a graphics adapter integrated into the processor is used.

Nevertheless, it can be found in the "Device Manager", in the line "Video Adapters". Here is a model by which you can find information about the adapter itself. To collect complete information about which video card is installed, you can download the CPU-Z program and collect the necessary data in the Graphics tab. There are also many utilities that help in overclocking the "viduhi" and provide more complete information about it.

Utility Utilities

In order not to search individually for all the characteristics of a PC, you can install one of the universal programs that give complete information. For example, Everest or AIDA64. These are comprehensive programs that help to review the parameters of components and conduct diagnostics.
