Among all WoW professions, blacksmithing is the most suitable activity for players who want to create weapons and armor. Paladins, death knights, and warriors usually become blacksmiths. To create any item you need two things: an anvil and a special hammer.
The role of the main resource used in blacksmithing is played by ore - that is why many blacksmiths decide to become also miners. In the form of a special bonus, masters can decorate their creations with special connectors, where semiprecious stones are then inserted.
It is noteworthy that blacksmiths cannot repair their own things. In the event of a breakdown or malfunction of any item, the player will have to use a paid repair. This service is provided by special sellers.
Resource Details
As we said earlier, the main resource in WoW blacksmithing is ore, which is mined from simple and precious stones. That is why blacksmiths are very often engaged in mining to gain access to the necessary resources.
Some resources can be bought from merchants, for example, fluffwood - a special type of additive that cleans metals. Materials such as leather, threads and fabric, as well as products of alchemy and sorcery, are “responsible” for the production of many items.
Sometimes blacksmiths use a special kind of ingredients in their work, exotic - it can be a wild vine or something else. High-level masters can use various essences and "primordial".
What do blacksmiths produce?
A blacksmith is able to forge any weapon for close combat (exception - staves) and several types of throwing weapons. A variety of heavy armor, which demonstrates mainly combat parameters, can also be attributed to production products. Weapons and equipment can be considered the main product of any master of this profession.
In addition to making standard weapons, blacksmiths can create products with special characteristics. Some crafts are endowed with the effect of temporarily improving the subject characteristics and can be useful to characters of any class. So, for example, the use of sharpeners and sinkers adds a percentage to the damage from sharp (daggers, swords, etc.) and blunt (hammers, staves, etc.) types of weapons. And with the help of protective amulets and runes that are placed on top of the armor, the hero can absorb the physical damage inflicted on him.
Another type of item from our WoW blacksmithing guide resembles enchantments. Such things are endowed with permanent effects that can only be applied by blacksmiths. So, a steel chain is able to halve the duration of disarmament; an iron shield spike deals additional damage during each strike block; Mithril spurs are attached to shoes and add speed to the Riding skill.
Even blacksmiths are engaged in the production of disposable master keys that are suitable for locks of any complexity. These master keys are a good alternative to the Hacking skill.
Start date. How to upgrade blacksmithing in WoW?
For the basics of this profession, you can contact the appropriate trainer, who is in one of the starting locations (the location option depends on the race chosen by the player). The only conditions under which a character can begin training is level 5 leveling and the ability to pay the trainer ten silver coins. When the profession is learned, a novice blacksmith will be able to manufacture several copper products, and the maximum skill will reach 75. Further progress in pumping blacksmithing in WoW is achieved through special quests.
Quests "Barbarian Iron"
Upon reaching level 32, the character will open access to the first quest in this series. The quest is given by a character named Orokk Omosh, who is located in the Alley of Honor, in Orgrimmar.
You can start the task before the blacksmithing leveling reached skill 160. As a reward for completing each quest, the character will receive several blacksmithing recipes. It is worth remembering that the study of such recipes becomes possible only after a professional skill reaches the level of 160-185. In this case, you can take advantage of the award a little later.
Quests "Order of Mithril"
Upon reaching level 40, the character will be able to go through the very first quest from the quest chain "Order of Mithril" (professional skill should be 200+). This series is mandatory if the player wishes to receive the title of Master of Armor. For blacksmiths who have chosen the path of weapons masters, it is not necessary to go through the Order of Mithril.
Quests "The Brotherhood of Thorium"
The player from this series can receive tasks in the city of Gadgetzan, Tanaris. Almost all quests are tied to one scenario - the hero must get several recipes for Imperial armor in exchange for a large amount of Thorium ore.
Specialization Choice
A player with level 40 (professional skill should be 200+) must make a choice in favor of one of the blacksmith's specializations. Thus, he can become either a gunsmith (Weapon Master) or an armored man (Armor Master). To confirm the choice, you will have to go through an additional task. After some time, gunsmiths will be able to improve their knowledge of the craft through a certain specialization, whether it is the development of hammers, axes or swords.
How to change a specialty
It is possible to change the blacksmithing specialty at trainers, having previously paid them the necessary amount of gold. As for the size of the board, it always varies and may depend both on the specialty itself and on the level at which the character is currently located. After the player has mastered one specialty, he is free to master a new one without any additional charge.
What has changed in the Legion?
Since the time of the classic WoW 1.12.1, blacksmithing has undergone many changes. As for the Legion, the following innovations can be highlighted in this update:
- From now on, each recipe has several levels. With each subsequent level there is a more efficient creation of objects. Speaking specifically about blacksmithing, here for each recipe with a higher level will go much less resources than it was before.
- As for the new recipes for blacksmithing in WoW, they were never added. Instead, the Legion expansion allowed blacksmiths to create relics and vehicles.
About Local Jobs
In addition to quests aimed at pumping, blacksmiths can perform simple local quests. As a rule, all that a player needs to do in such tasks is to deliver a specific product to one of the indicated locations. As a reward, a player can receive several materials or recipes (WoW 3.3.5 blacksmithing update and higher).
Profession and earnings
In the case of blacksmithing, wands usually bring big profits from the sale. Before bidding, we advise you to visit the auction in person to study the supply and demand market well. If there is not a single rod among the goods, then you can try to set your own (though this situation is unlikely), if they are available, you will have to evaluate the situation properly. If the total number of wands is quite small, then you can try to buy them yourself, thereby knocking down the competition.
Below we have compiled a short list of some of the most expensive wands, on the sale of which you can earn good condition:
- Adamantite wands - are used in the process of disinfecting items; can be sold for 120-160 gold coins.
- Fel Iron Wands - These items are used in leveling the Enchanting skill (only at high levels); can be sold for 120-160 gold coins.
- Arcanite rods - used in leveling the profession; can be sold for 80-150 gold coins.
- Eternium Wands - with the help of these wands players can resume their skill to level 375; can be sold for 80-150 gold coins.
Additional tips
As we said earlier, the main products of production in blacksmithing are armor and weapons, so this profession is suitable for all soldiers. Representatives of other classes, for example, paladins, shamans or hunters, may also be interested in her. To this list you can add robbers who will have the opportunity to make blades for themselves.
Selling products based on materials purchased at auctions is not always profitable, so you need to approach this matter with caution. We advise you to study the in-game purchase and sale market in order to avoid cash losses.
