Three ways to make cells in Excel the same size

The Excel spreadsheet processor is very convenient for working with various kinds of data. True, some seemingly simple things in it are quite difficult to accomplish - the user simply does not know how to do this. In particular, this refers to cell alignment. This article will show you how to make cells of the same size in Excel using three different methods.

Method One: Align Selected Area

All methods of aligning table cells in Excel can be categorized according to user needs. Let's start with the most commonly used method that helps align cells in a specific range of the sheet:

  1. Select the area of cells that you want to align on the sheet of the table.
  2. Click on the "Format" drop-down list, which is located in the "Home" tab.
  3. In the menu that appears, click on the "Row Height" section.
  4. In the window that opens, enter the line height value and click "OK."

After that, all selected cells will become the same size that you set. If you need to align not only the height of the row, but also the width of the column, then do the following:

  1. Select the desired cell area.
  2. In the "Format" drop-down list, select "Column Width".
  3. Enter the desired value.
  4. Click OK.

Now you have cells of the same size both in height and in width. And this means that you have mastered the first way on how to make cells of the same size in Excel.

Method Two: Align the entire sheet

The second method is used if it is necessary to set the cell sizes in the entire sheet, and not in a certain range. Instructions for this task are almost identical to the previous one:

  1. Select the entire table. To do this, click on the square located at the intersection of row numbering and a row of columns, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + A.
  2. On the main tab, from the "Format" drop-down list, select the "Row Height" option and specify the desired value.
  3. From the same list, select “Column Width” and enter the desired value.

Method Three: Drag Boundaries

What if you just need to make the size of the rows or the width of the columns the same, but there is no need to give them a certain size? There is no point wandering around all the menu items, you can simply set the size manually - by eye.

  1. Select a range of rows or columns from the table.
  2. Position the cursor at the junction of two columns or rows.
  3. Click and hold the left mouse button to resize the width or height.

At the time of this action, you may notice that the size does not change only in the selected column or row, but in the entire pre-selected range. This is the third way to make cells in Excel the same size.
