If we plunge into our history, then we will see that in Russia the concept of pregnancy and a bath was always nearby and complemented each other. It was in the baths that most peasant women gave birth, and many noble women also preferred to give birth in the bathhouse. It was not for nothing that our ancestors believed that this room was ideal for childbirth, there was everything necessary, adequate temperature, cleanliness and good energy.
Modern science still does not have a clear answer to the question of whether pregnancy and bath are compatible. Even some 50 years ago, doctors categorically forbade visiting the bath during pregnancy. But time does not stand still and the attitude towards the bathhouse is changing. Now many experts already claim that pregnancy and a bath are completely compatible concepts and even recommend that their visit to pregnant women.
What is the use of the bath?
The bath has always had a beneficial effect on the body, as it is cleansed of toxins and the activation of metabolic processes. Visiting the bath allows you to increase the elasticity of blood vessels and improve blood flow. A bath during pregnancy allows for good prevention of the appearance of stretch marks during pregnancy. But to achieve a noticeable effect it is necessary to visit the bath regularly, then the skin becomes elastic.
Based on the foregoing, it can be concluded that visiting a bathhouse not only produces a healing effect on the body, but also on consciousness, therefore concepts such as “pregnancy and a bathhouse” should not scare women expecting a baby. But it should be noted that all the same, in the first stages of pregnancy, it is worth restricting visits to the bath, especially it is worth protecting very high temperatures.
Bath and pregnancy are the advantages of such a tandem in the following:
- such procedures improve blood circulation, respectively, and utero-placental blood flow. In this case, the rate of aging of the placenta decreases , the flow of oxygen to the fetus improves , and thereby the risk of developmental delay becomes much less;
- there is an increase in the elasticity of blood vessels, which positively affects the presence of such an unpleasant pregnancy companion as varicose veins. Regular visits to the bath reduce the risk of blood clots;
- since during the stay in the bath a lot of toxins are removed through the skin, this way the load on the kidneys of a pregnant woman, who work in an intensive mode, is significantly reduced;
- Also, these procedures are effective for the prevention of edema and gestosis during pregnancy. An increase in the tone of the whole organism occurs and an excess fluid is withdrawn from it.
Thus, we see that regular and thoughtful visits to the bath well prepare the body for the upcoming birth. In such women, they occur much easier and faster. Since with regular visits to the bath, muscle tension is removed and the ligament elasticity is increased, the pain threshold in women rises and there is no need to use analgesics and antispasmodics during childbirth.
