Pregnancy is the normal state of any woman. The duration of this period is from 38 to 49 weeks, during which the baby develops in the uterus. Many are inclined to believe that a woman is able to learn about her interesting situation in the first couple of weeks. The first sign of a developing pregnancy is the termination of the menstrual cycle. But, according to statistics, every fifth woman does not even guess about her condition up to 5 months. The reason for this is the ongoing menstruation during pregnancy. Indeed, according to the same statistics, one out of five women turns to the antenatal clinic with exactly this issue. But many do not apply at all, and at the same time give birth to healthy children.
In order to understand whether menstruation is dangerous during pregnancy, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with some physiological features of the female body. The fact is that if fertilization occurs in the middle of the cycle, then most likely the fetal egg will not have time to get to the right place, because it takes 7 to 15 days. This means that the hormonal background in a woman will remain in the same state and the body will not react in any way to changes, as a result of which everything will happen in its usual mode. That is, menstruation in the first month of pregnancy will take place as usual. Also, quite often in women there is a decreased level of estrogen during pregnancy. The reasons for this can be a great many, but one result - menstruation during pregnancy. This means that the hormonal background changes, pregnancy develops, and estrogens suddenly fall, and as a result, bleeding is observed. It should be noted that for various reasons, not every woman has a normal hormonal background, so some do not even know about their pregnancy during the first 3 or 4 months.
There is another reason why a woman has abundant menstruation during pregnancy, however, this happens extremely rarely. In some medical sources, cases are described when two ovules, which are located in different ovaries, matured at once in the body of a woman. In this case, one egg was fertilized, and the other was rejected, causing bleeding.
If pregnancy proceeds as expected, then the menstrual cycle stops, because the fertilized egg continues to develop. However, some women may experience red discharge that is not monthly. The reasons for the appearance of these secretions may be different, but, as a rule, this means that the egg began to exfoliate. With a slight exfoliation, the female body will independently cope with this, and the further course of pregnancy will be normal.
Despite the fact that menstruation during pregnancy very often does not entail irreversible consequences, if bleeding occurs, the expectant mother is best to consult a doctor who monitors her health during pregnancy. The doctor will conduct a thorough examination, maybe prescribe tests, based on which he will draw conclusions. It is even possible that the doctor will prescribe spasmolytics or muscle relaxants. It should be noted that for every woman, pregnancy proceeds purely individually, and having listened to general recommendations, she may make an erroneous decision. In the event that a woman has a discharge during pregnancy that resembles menstruation, she should not self-medicate, because this can negatively affect not only her health condition, but also the health of her unborn baby. In order for a woman's pregnancy to proceed normally, she needs to be examined regularly and at the first alarming signs, seek help from her doctor.
