Only truly brave men who love their homeland and are ready to defend it could take such a decisive step and combine their destiny with the ship. This is especially true for those who dared to serve in a submarine. Every day, these heroes unknown to anyone risk their lives so that we can sleep peacefully and not worry about the enemy attacking our country.
March 19 - Day of the submariner. Why did this date become the basis for the celebration? In order to find out, you should plunge into the past centuries, because the history of the Russian fleet has more than two hundred years. And during this time, our sailors managed to become famous even in the most remote corners of the world.
In the depths of history
The first who proposed the idea of creating a ship was, oddly enough, the great creator in the field of culture, Leonardo da Vinci. He presented a model of a combat boat, but soon destroyed it, because he was afraid of martial law.
Decisive action distinguished Dutchman Cornelius Drebell in 1620. He designed the ship for the English king James I, after which the plan was translated into reality at a shipyard in London.
In Russia, attempts to create such a sea miracle were made under Peter the Great. Self-taught from the people Efim Nikonov took up this difficult object. But after the death of the king, the case was closed, and the project remained non-embodied.
The revival of the Russian navy
Only in 1906, on March 19, a decree of Nicholas II was adopted, which spoke about the formation of troops on the Baltic Sea. After that, the active construction of submarines began. At the beginning of World War I, the Russian Navy included a submarine brigade (eight ships) and a scuba diving training unit (three ships). In 1917, an entire naval military base called Tosna was already formed. It included seven divisions, which contained 4-5 ships.
The cruising submarine, which was designed in 1935, on the eve of World War II, deserved close and special attention.
By the beginning of World War II, the Navy had 212 ships in its arsenal. Their teams were distinguished by good marine skills.
Nowadays, the military base is armed with powerful jet submarines that can easily solve any combat tasks.

Since then, the Day of the Submariner in Russia is not complete without the broadcast of this film. Indeed, knowledge of history is the basis of all the foundations for an accomplished citizen.
Reconstruction of naval battle
In 2015, the holiday was distinguished by significant events. The celebration was already traditionally held in St. Petersburg, at the Admiralty Shipyards, another submarine of project 677 Velikiye Luki was laid, and at the same time, the fifth nuclear submarine Arkhangelsk was presented at Semvash.
Also on March 19 (Day of the Submariner), a full-fledged council of Sestroretsk veterans was formed, and reconstruction of the battle on Lake Razliv was organized. And the Club of Navy employees held a festive evening on March 21 in the Revolution Hall of the famous corps of Peter the Great.
Thanks to these events, on March 19 the holiday turned out to be very dynamic and full of emotions, the age category of the visitors to the celebration was very different.
