Satin is a cotton fabric with a special weave of threads. Compositions of manufactured paintings may vary. It all depends on the fiber that was used in their production. The interweaving of satin threads is characterized by a silky and smooth structure of the front surface of the fabric. This effect is obtained due to the unusual ratio in the interweaving of threads. It is in sateen in a ratio of 4: 1. The simplest thing is weaving in a ratio of 1: 1.
Satin What is this fabric?
Satin has many wonderful properties. The canvas of this material is very pleasant to the touch. In addition, its difference is in a kind of brilliance. The explanation is simple. Consider the composition of the fabric. Satin is a twisted cotton thread. This fact was noticed even in antiquity - the stronger the cotton thread is twisted, the greater the brilliance of satin. This property of the fabric often becomes the reason that it is confused with silk, which this material is very similar at first glance.
Often when making bedding, satin is used. What is this fabric for products of this kind? It should be said that this material, in addition to looking like a royal, is also very durable. The luster of satin linen begins to fade a little after only two or three hundred washes.
Species into which this fabric is subdivided
Cotton (sateen is made from it) is much cheaper than silk. This allows you to set a lower price on the canvas of this raw material. However, the “royal” fabric is the most expensive of cotton fabrics.
Consider mako-satin to be the best. What is this fabric? In the production of this material uses pure cotton. Its finest threads give the fabric airiness and smoothness. The maximum gloss of a satin cloth is reached at its mercerization. This is an alkali treatment of tissue. This procedure is carried out in the production process.
Cheap satin - what is this fabric? In order to provide a characteristic shine, this canvas undergoes calendaring. During this process, the fabric is rolled between rollers heated to a high temperature. Calendering turns round threads into flat ones. It should be noted that such a fabric loses its luster already during the first wash.
There is jacquard satin. It belongs to the elite cotton fabrics. This material has its own characteristics. First of all, this is a woven pattern. A kind of weaving of threads is created on jacquard machines. In addition, this type of elite satin is characterized by a high degree of strength and density.
Painting methods
There are two types of them. The first of them is reactive, the second - pigment. The first type is the most expensive. It involves the absorption of paint directly into the fiber. In this case, the bright color of the fabric lasts a long time. In addition, when washing, it does not fade. Reactive color does not affect the quality of the material.
The pigment method involves a different technology. The paint, when used, is applied to the fabric from above. This gives some rigidity to the canvas.
