A flag is a symbol of a country, the same as a coat of arms and a hymn. There is the State Flag Day of Russia. It is dedicated to the revival of the tricolor and is celebrated annually in August, 22nd. The date is related to the August coup that took place in 1991.
Tricolor story
A three-color flag has existed since the time of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. According to his order, red, white, and blue fabrics were used for ship panels, on which eagles were depicted.
In St. Petersburg, the original old Russian flag is stored, which was hoisted on the ship "St. Peter" in 1693. It has three horizontal, equal-sized colored stripes, its length is 4.3 m, its width is 4.6 m.
National Flag Day of Russia underlines the importance of the flag for our country at all times. It is no accident that Peter I in 1699 approved the sketch of a three-lane banner. In 1705, he issued a decree that stated that all ships should hoist the flag according to the approved model. The sample showed the colors and order of the horizontal stripes.
In 1858, under Tsar Alexander II, the banner became black, yellow and white. But the tricolor was returned when Alexander III ascended the throne . This is due to the fact that the new tsar considered the black-yellow-white combination of colors foreign to our country.
The Day of the State Flag of Russia reflects the fact that white, blue, red are colors that are Russian symbols. This was determined by the Ministry of Justice in 1896. Tricolor was a symbol of the country before the revolution. During the years of the Civil War, he personified the White Movement. And the Soviet Army used the red banner.
