Any of the maps loaded into the navigator sooner or later loses its relevance. This may be due to minor changes related to optimization of work or adaptation to a specific device model, or to updating the map itself, which is very critical for building a route. All manufacturers of modern consumer navigation devices work on such schemes, and Explay, whose navigators are quite popular in the market, is no exception.
Most often, users are faced with updating the navigator software. That is, downloading and installing the required updates on a workable device. The procedure is not complicated, and fundamental knowledge of the technique is not needed, since you can update the Explay navigator using a simple sequence of actions.
Manual update
A proven, albeit very time-consuming, will be the manual addition of the device to the Navitel database. On the official site navitel.ru in the upper right corner of the page there is a standard form for logging in to your account: fields for entering your login and password, as well as the "Login" and "Registration" buttons. After clicking on "Registration" a small questionnaire opens, having carefully completed it and having sent the data, you need to wait for the letter to your email address (it is assumed that the user has an email address; if not, it will not be difficult to get it on one of the mail services).
The letter will contain a link to the activation of the account, and after passing the verification procedure, you can log into your account. In the appropriate fields you need to enter the credentials, previously indicated in the questionnaire, then go to the "My devices" section, and then click "Add new device". In the window that appears, you need to enter the navigator model and the program activation code, and then click "Add." The device will be added, a link to download the latest updates (both the program and maps) will immediately appear.
After the updates are downloaded, you must transfer them to the device itself, after unpacking the installation archive. By default, Navitel is installed in the device’s memory, so you should connect it to the computer, look for folders similar to the contents of the archive, then delete it and copy the directories with updates in their place.
Please note that when updating maps for the Explay navigator, old versions must first be deleted from the device’s memory in order to avoid errors in the navigator’s operation.
Application Activation Code
The application activation code is provided to the user when purchasing a licensed copy of Navitel. If you purchase an officially certified device with preinstalled cards, you can find the code in the following places (options for different devices are possible):
- A special license sticker packaged with the instruction and warranty card of the device.
- A disk with software for connecting the navigator to a computer.
In the memory of the gadget itself, in the "Registration Key.txt" file, which can be accessed through the built-in file manager. Program update
You can download the utility in the "Technical Support" section of the "Download" tab. After installing the program on a PC, you need to do the following:
- Connect the navigator to the computer in removable media mode.
- Run the utility, wait for the device to automatically detect.
- Select the "Updates" tab.
- Agree with the proposal of the application to update all program modules.
Map update
In this mode, there is no need to download and update maps separately: they will be downloaded and installed along with new software versions. In addition, during the installation process, special actions will not be required from the user: Updater will do everything independently, and all participation consists in the selection of updated products (only software or together with cards), as well as in monitoring the installation of updates. At the same time, only Explay maps registered in the system will be updated for free. If new ones are required, they will first have to be bought.
Installing Navitel on a device
Sometimes there are situations in which you need to install Navitel on a device from scratch. In these cases, the licensed version of the program is purchased separately, and you need to install it manually in the device. The sequence of actions is simple: it is in many ways similar to the update procedure.
First, in the download section of the site, you need to download the desired assembly of the program. They are located under the heading "Build Navitel Navigator for Windows CE". Depending on the type of navigator, either the device itself or a memory card should be connected to the computer. In the downloaded archive is located the "Navitel" directory, which you need to place on the required medium, and then perform the program activation procedure. Further actions depend on the availability of a license key. If it is, then it is easiest to activate the application from the menu itself, if not, you will have to use the navitel.ru website.
