Many gardeners hang mirrors or empty cans to get rid of gluttonous feathered pests. However, modern bird nets are much more convenient, reliable and easier to use. They are able to save young shoots and a ripening crop from total destruction. Such nets are made of lightweight, very flexible and durable material that can protect vegetables, berries and fruits from annoying birds of various kinds. It was this device that was used by experienced gardeners in past centuries. However, only in the last 10 years did materials appear from which very strong and absolutely weightless bird nets can be made.
Why use the novelty?
In the past, gardeners resorted to such devices as scarecrows or various “noisy” devices: bells, banks, glass and even shells. However, all of the above methods poorly coped with their tasks, so a bird garden net made of highly effective covering material appeared. To establish it, it does not require a lot of strength or patience, practically no effort is required. The bird protection net has a crumbled specific gravity, and its dimensions are very compact and convenient for transportation and storage. Depending on the needs of the gardener, you can purchase a device of completely different sizes, guaranteeing the shelter of any bush, tree or berry bed.
Also, such products can have cells with sizes in the range of 0.5-1.5 cm, which will not let even the smallest feathered pests to the fruits and shoots. When choosing bird nets, it is necessary to carefully analyze the quality and thickness of the material from which they are made. If the second indicator is high, pests can notice a protective cover on plants. And outwardly such products do not look as good as thin analogues. However, elegant nets that are virtually invisible on trees and vegetable beds can be torn by particularly aggressive or large birds.
Installation of an invisible shelter
Nets for birds are simply thrown on top of trees and fruit bushes, they cover strawberry fields and even flower beds during the ripening of seeds. Fix the edges of the product by any means at hand - it can be shoelaces, sticks, pieces of wire and much more. In time, this grid mounting procedure takes 5-10 minutes. Some summer residents use this shelter to protect their ponds from birds of prey or simply from falling leaves. Thus, the fish in the pond remains intact, and it is necessary to clean it much less often. When installing the network over a pond, the edges of the material are fixed with small pegs off the coast.
The color scheme of such devices can be absolutely diverse, but from the point of view of camouflage, black and green in any grassy shades are considered the most successful. The opinion that red or orange nets from birds is better is not confirmed statistically, so the choice is entirely up to the gardener. If you use the covering material carefully and competently, it is able to last about five years and also perform a decorative function.
