Hermes scarf - a fashion accessory or an exhibit of a unique collection?

Hermes scarf today is not just a luxury accessory, it is a valuable exhibit of collections, which not everyone can be proud of. The famous shawl, which became a legend, appeared in Lyon in 1937. Suddenly, production gained tremendous momentum, and from that time the Hermes era began.

Today, each exclusive product is made using a special unique technology. The whole process begins with the work of the artist, who draws up the idea that arose from him in a sketch and begins to develop the chosen theme. On each shawl, in addition to the Hermes inscription protecting against fakes, the name of the artist is necessarily fixed.

After the approval of the project, the engraver proceeds to work. He puts the pattern on the stencil. Each color requires a special cliche. Sometimes, in order to create one Hermes scarf, more than 40 cliches are required. Their selection is a complex and time-consuming business. Connoisseurs know that the smaller the pattern on the scarf, the more shades and colors on the product, the more unique it is.

No less difficult task is the selection of colors for the pattern. This business is handled by a group of professionals. Their palette has about seventy five thousand flowers that make up the main base. Combining them, they get new shades. Paints are always mixed by hand. Print a picture on a roll of silk, which is stretched on a special table almost a hundred meters long. Thus, a hundred shawls can be used immediately.

The specialist-printer alternately, through different cliches, applies the desired colors to silk. Excessive thick paints are carefully cleaned by hand. After that, a number of complex operations for fixing the paints are carried out.

Then comes the final stage of work - hemming the edges, which is bent to the front side and manually hemmed. This process takes 32 minutes. After that, the product goes into control. If any defect is noticed, the scarf is immediately burned: the quality must always be perfect.

Hermes Shawl is a silk rectangle with a side size of ninety centimeters and a weight of 65 grams. Twice a year, in summer and spring, the oldest Parisian fashion house showcases new collections. Today, the company produces up to 40 thousand scarves per week. Each new collection consists of 12 scarves, analogues of which do not exist.

Hermes scarf requires very careful care. If handled improperly, it can be damaged. Only hand wash is allowed subject to a number of rules:

  • use cool water (below 30 degrees);
  • use detergents for washing silk products;
  • it is strictly forbidden to twist the product;
  • thoroughly rinse the handkerchief;
  • dry only on a hanger, without the use of clothespins;
  • closely monitor the temperature of the iron when ironing.

Quite often you can hear the question of how to distinguish a Hermes original shawl from a fake. There are several ways to do this:

  • the original scarf is made only of natural silk, the fake can be made of polyester or silk of low grades;
  • the fake will weigh less than 65 grams;
  • size 90x90 cm is not maintained;
  • after washing, the fake deforms, changes its structure, which does not happen with the original.

Hermes - scarves, the price of which ranges from 365 to 500 $ (copies from the first collections can cost more than a thousand dollars). This is a real work of art.
