Dzungarian hamster is a separate, independent animal species. For a long period of time, it was believed that it has a less common subspecies called Campbell's hamster. Undoubtedly, confusing these animals is quite simple, since decorative hamsters differ only in color.
Dzungarian hamster breeding which is possible in captivity, does not grow more than ten centimeters in length, and its weight does not exceed 45 grams. As already mentioned, these animals differ in color. Distinctive features of the Dzungarian hamster are shaggy legs and almost black longitudinal strip located on the back, as well as interspersed white fur throughout the body and a small tail.
Dzungarian hamster, the reproduction of which proceeds exactly the same with his
brothers, it has its own characteristics. Dzhungarik females can bring up to fifteen cubs per litter, and in some sources it is noted that up to eighteen. These indicators are higher than those of
Syrian hamsters. In one year (March-September), the female Dzungarian hamster is able to bring three to six litters. When planning to start a couple of Dzungarian hamsters, think in advance where you will put a large number of young animals.
The Dzungarian hamster, the reproduction of which is quite simple at home, loves loneliness. It is very important here to drop off the young from the mother on time. At about one month of age, animals become completely independent, and individual individuals are also sexually mature. There is an option that offspring may appear, but at this age, the pregnancy of the Dzungarian hamster is undesirable , since the skeleton is formed only by the age of five months.
A Dzungarian hamster, whose pregnancy lasts an average of twenty days (plus or minus two days), must live in specially created conditions. In the event of a stressful situation, the female dzhungarik can easily transfer her offspring or even eat it. As in the vast majority of animals, in the species, the Dzungarian hamster reproduction is possible only if individuals of the same breed are selected. It is very important not to cross different types of decorative hamsters here, since the offspring usually turns out to be unviable.
Dzungarian hamster is quite a friendly animal. Provided that it is well maintained, it will please its owners for a long time. A metal cage in two tiers is perfect for him. Due to the fact that this animal is very mobile, it will require a lot of various entertainments - wheels, ladders, tunnels and various buildings that you can find in pet stores.
The bottom of the cage should be strewn with sawdust, which will serve as a great place for dzhungariki to hide their supplies and ordinary games. In the daytime, hamsters lead a passive lifestyle and mostly sleep. If in the sawdust the hamster cannot make a mink, then he will need a house in which he will rest during the day.
In food, dzhungariki hamsters are unpretentious. It is enough to purchase a variety of feed at a pet store. As a treat, give them boiled meat. Do not forget to provide the pet with water, as its lack can lead to various diseases.
