Famous Russian Spaniel: breed description

If you turn to Russian hunters with a request to name the five most popular dogs, then the Russian spaniel will certainly occupy the leading place in this list. This still very young breed was bred in the Soviet Union. The International Canine Society (FCI) has not yet been recognized.

At the end of the nineteenth century, various types of spaniels began to be imported into Russia . These were mostly cockers. They tried to hunt with them, but these squat dogs were not very suitable for Russian regions. At the beginning of the twentieth century, breeders began to select more tall and temperamental dogs, and from abroad began to write out springers to breed a new breed.
