A series of graphics accelerators AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series appeared on the shelves of computer stores in the distant 2011. At that time, it belonged to the manufacturing company as a medium-speed device. This lineup included three accelerator modifications: 6750, 6770 and 6790.
All models of the family
As part of the AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series line, as noted earlier, three models of graphics accelerators were released:
- The youngest of them was designated HD 6750 and had the most "modest" parameters. Accordingly, its speed was extremely low, but the price was quite affordable.
- Mid-range accelerators were labeled HD 6770. In this case, the specifications were significantly improved. As a result, the performance of the graphics subsystem increased. But the price increased.
- The flagships in this case were the HD 6790 accelerators. The radically changed architecture allowed such devices to compete on equal terms with the more productive accelerators of the HD 68XX line.
Two minor modifications of accelerators. Their characteristics
The entry-level and mid-range AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series specifications indicated that they used the same RV850 microprocessor. In the first case, 720 stream processors were used, and in the second - 800. In the HD 6750 they operated at a frequency of 700 MHz, and in the second - 850 MHz.
The amount of RAM they had was the same - 1 GB. Memory chips used by GDDR5. But for the younger model, the frequency from work was 4600 MHz, and for the average - 4800 MHz. Therefore, the HD 6770 over the younger model in the tests received an advantage of an average of 15%.
The flagship of the family. Its specifications
The flagship of the AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series line was the HD 6790. This accelerator was based on a completely different chip - Barts. He, like the mid-range accelerator HD 6770, had 800 stream processors. But they worked at a frequency of 840 MHz.
The type of memory used is GGDDR5. But, like stream processors, these microcircuits functioned at a lower frequency of 4200 MHz. Higher performance in this case was achieved by increasing the capacity of the video buffer bus. For younger devices, it was 128 bits, and for the flagship - 256 bits.
Conclusion
Very productive graphics devices were all adapters line AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series. They still continue to be actively exploited, and they can often be found in computers assembled in 2011. But now the time has come when the owners of such accelerators is the time to think about updating the PC hardware.
