Setting launch parameters "KS: GO"

Counter-Strike Global Offensive has been around for years to come. However, most people still do not know how to configure CS: GO for themselves, make it smoother, more convenient for them personally, or even increase the number of FPS in matches. To do this is quite simple, absolutely everyone can handle it.

How to open the launch options of the COP

CS launch parameters are commands that a user prescribes for a game to follow certain instructions. For example, changing the resolution, display mode, setting the tick rate for playing on your server or the maximum refresh rate of frames, etc. Opening startup options is very simple. In the "Library", right-click on the name of the game, then select "Properties" - "General" - "Set launch options." A window will open where you need to register the necessary properties.

This is how the window with startup parameters looks like.

What parameters can be set

The form of writing the parameter is as follows: each parameter begins with a dash, then the necessary launch parameter is written, then through the space and other instructions for the game. For example: -tickrate 128 -panorama -console. However, if you register a console command in the options window, you should start with a plus (+), not a dash.

The most important parameters for starting the CS:

  • -console (immediately opens the console after starting the game; convenient for quick verification of the config);
  • -threads [desired number] (says "KS: GO", how many processor cores should be used; it is advisable to specify everything that you have);
  • -tickrate [number] (the parameter sets the desired tickrate for your server; it is advisable to specify 128, as this will increase the accuracy of sending and receiving information from the server, which will improve the smoothness of the game);
  • -novid (removes the initial splash screen);
  • -high (makes the priority of the game high);
  • -fullscreen (enables full screen mode) ;
  • -windowed -w [number] -h [number] (launches the game in a window in the resolution of your choice);
  • -freq or -refresh [number] (forces the game to use the selected monitor frequency; it is recommended not to set a value higher than the base frequency of your device, as this may damage it);
  • -language [language] (changes the language of the game to the specified one; for example: -language english);
  • -lv (reduces the level of violence in the game; there is no more blood, models do not die, but fold their hands behind their heads);
  • -panorama (introduces an updated interface into the game; at the moment, the new interface is under testing, so errors may occur during operation);
  • -nod3d9ex1 (speeds up the folding of the game);
  • + exec autoexec.cfg (automatically loads your config settings);
  • -dxlevel [81 or 90] (selects the version of directX to use).

Using parameters to increase FPS

If you have a weak PC or suddenly FPS freezes and crashes, adjusting the launch parameters of the CS for FPS can solve this problem. I would like to note right away that setting through the parameters will not be able to radically increase the number of frames per second, but it will significantly raise this value.

Recommended launch parameters "KS: GO" for FPS: -novid -console -noforcemparms -refresh (frequency of your monitor) -high -tickrate 128 -threads (number of processor cores) + rate 128000 + cl_cmdrate 128 + cl_updaterate 128 + cl_interp 0 + cl_interp_ratio 1 + fps_max 0. With these settings, FPS on slow computers increases by 20-40%.

It should be something like this.

Final result

Do not be afraid to experiment with the launch parameters of the CS for FPS and keep those that are suitable in your situation.

Additional tips for increasing FPS

Not always adjusting the launch parameters of the CS brings its own benefits in the form of a sharp jump in frames per second. Then one of the following tips may help you:

  1. Set the graphics in the game itself. In competitive games, you should not pay so much attention to graphics, in other words, the number of frames per second and the overall smoothness of the picture are much more expensive than the beauty of the display of game models. You can make the quality of textures, shadows and smoothing minimal, but don't get carried away with lower resolutions. 1280x720 is the optimal resolution for 16: 9 monitors, and 1024x768 for 4: 3 monitors. So you save an acceptable picture with a higher FPS.
  2. Clean the inside of the computer completely. It is advisable to engage in such cleaning at least once a year, but this, of course, depends on where it is located. Simply put, they noticed that your device began to work worse or overheat - it's time to clean with a replacement thermal paste.
  3. Close unnecessary programs that use computer resources. Often, such small processes together load the system of weak PCs even more than the game itself.
  4. Unlock the CPU.

After all these manipulations, you can check the number of FPS using the net_graph 1 command.

In conclusion, I want to say that CS: GO does not always behave well, even on powerful computers, drawdowns and friezes often occur. It all depends on the individual settings of your computer, different tools are an excellent solution for one, but absolutely do not work for others. Try different settings and don't be afraid to change parameter values.
