Customs Day. Story

The trade tax, as a rule, was levied by members of the princely squad, who were otherwise called "tax collectors". Of course, in ancient Russia, all customs duties were conditionally divided into travel and trade. Moreover, a wash was also charged for transporting goods through internal or external outposts. For example, the “dry” wash was intended for crossing by land, and “water”, therefore, for transportation by water.

In 1868, the so-called Sea Cruising was created. Its main purpose was to strengthen the maritime border throughout the Baltic Sea. Later, in 1872, the so-called customs flotilla was founded on the same territory. In 1893, the border guard was withdrawn from the financing of the Department of Customs duties.

In 1912, the last planned reform of the customs structure in Tsarist Russia was approved . After the adoption of the relevant decree of the Council of People's Commissars, in which the speech mainly addressed the issues of nationalization of absolutely all foreign trade, a decision was made to establish a border guard.
