Knitting needles for children knit mittens with eyes and ears!

How would you like a little native man to have comfortable clothes, so that he would be warm and cozy in it! It is also desirable that children's clothing be beautiful and fun, combine developmental or semantic load.

That is why many mothers and grandmothers prefer to make clothes for their babies with their own hands, decorating it with original applications, knitting prints with cartoon plots or the alphabet. We sew wonderful dresses and suits for kids, we knit original warm jackets and hats for children, we crochet lace mittens and knee-highs, collars and frills. And it is worth noting that many craftswomen cope with this so artistically, their works are of such a high level that they are often much better than factory ones.

But, perhaps, the first thing we do, only having learned the basics of knitting, is knit mittens for children. But even such familiar little things for children can be made original by decorating them with buttons and additional details. Surprisingly, with very little imagination, it’s so easy to turn ordinary mittens into cute little animals, for example, into mice!

If we knit mittens for children on five knitting needles, then after dialing the required number of loops we evenly distribute them on four knitting needles, leaving the fifth for work. This knitting process is called circular, one row includes knitting loops from all four knitting needles.

Knitting begins with the cuff. It should be tied with an elastic band, about 5 or 6 cm high. Then there is a transition to knitting the main part of the mitten, which is most often done with facial loops. Later, after acquiring a sufficient level of skill, the knitter will be able to use other, more complex and beautiful patterns in the manufacture of the product.

Having knitted 2–3 cm from the cuff (this distance depends on the set size of the thing), 5-6 loops should be removed from the safety pin for further knitting of the thumb. In the next circular row, in place of the loops removed, you need to gain as much air and continue knitting. Thus, a hole is formed at the location of the future finger of the mitten.

When the knitting process reaches the tip of the little finger, the mittens must begin to “close”, gradually reducing the number of loops in a row. This is best done at the beginning of the first and third knitting needles, as well as at the end of the second and fourth.

If the reduction (knitting two loops together one) is done not at the very beginning or end of the knitting needle, but indented in one loop, then you can get a beautiful, neat little cutout on the edges of the top of the mittens. The remaining 2 loops on each spoke are pulled together with the cut end of the working thread and knotted. The free tip of the thread can be hidden inside the mitten, or you can attach a fluffy pompon to it.

Yes, do not forget that we knit mittens for children. Therefore, you can "turn" the product into funny kittens by sewing on the mittens at the top of the knitted ears, and on the back of the mittens, designing a cat's muzzle using the applique technique.

we knit for children up to a year

If we knit mittens for children up to a year, then we do not need to make a hole for the thumb on the mitten. But you should make sure that the mittens do not fly off the child’s palm. To do this, some craftswomen sew laces to the cuff or put on an elastic band.

If we knit mittens for older children, then we can’t do without knitting a finger. To do this, we transfer the loops left on the pin to the knitting needle, from above, through the air loops of the hole, we get another 8 loops attached to the last removed loop by the working thread, evenly distribute them all on three knitting needles, and use the fourth as the working one.

We knit the thumb in the same way in a circle. Having reached the base of the thumbnail, we begin to decrease, knitting two loops together on each spoke. The completion of the work itself is similar to how it was done, finishing the main part of the mitten.

As you can see, knitting cute mittens is not difficult for your baby, it would be patience and desire!
