In almost every modern school, educators ask parents whose children have just begun to learn to make a first-grader's portfolio. So that such a proposal does not baffle you, you need to have an idea of what it is, what sections it should include, and how best to draw it up.
Where to begin?
The first grader’s portfolio is not just a collection of his works, but also a source of data about the child, his
interests, hobbies and surroundings. What exactly to include in the album and what information to indicate depends on the requirements of your school, but in any case there will certainly be three sections: personal information, reports on victories and successes, children's
creative works.About me
The "About Me" section begins with a title page that displays the photo of the owner, his name and surname. Next is a table of contents. The following topics are included in the section, each of which needs to be highlighted and illustrated with photographs or drawings.
- Name.
- Family.
- Schedule.
- Hometown.
- Hobbies.
- School.
- Favorite subjects and circles.
- Schedule of lessons.
- Friends.
- Teachers.
- Future profession.
- Self portrait, imprint or outline of a palm.
Further, the first-grader’s portfolio includes the “My Achievements” section, which is constantly updated as new award documents are received. These can be diplomas from sports, diplomas from olympiads and intellectual competitions, creative events and exhibitions, as well as letters of thanks. For first-graders, there is no need to separate internal and extracurricular achievements, so documents are placed in a folder not in meaning, but in the order they were received.
The section "My works" is the most extensive. Here are stored drawings and applications, essays, poems, tales, stories - everything that was invented and set out on paper by a young writer. If a child sculpts from plasticine, knits or embroiders, is engaged in any other creative work, and his crafts cannot be placed in a folder, you can photograph them and put them in a portfolio of photographs.
How to get a portfolio for a first-grader boy
The design of the album is so individual that it is difficult to advise anything specific. The main thing is that all the details of the decor are firmly attached, because the child will definitely want to look at it more than once or twice, show it to each relative and friend. The theme for design is best suggested by the student himself, and parents will only have to neatly and beautifully realize the children's plan. Cars and robots, super-heroes and a military theme - everything that is close and interesting to a child can find a place in his portfolio. Decorate individual sheets with puzzle fragments, stickers and clippings from children's magazines, or simply print a ready-made template and place information on it.

Castles and princesses, dolls and fairies, pink paper, rhinestones and flowers - this is how little students see their future portfolio. Parents can only help in the implementation of ideas and make sure that in a burst of creativity the child does not lose a sense of proportion. It will be better if the initiative comes from the child, then he will have a fair impression that the work was done independently, with only a little parental help. In the end, creating an album is not a boring obligation, but a creative act that in itself contributes to the development of the baby’s talents.
