Now is the time of tolerance and compromise. Now people are trying not to fight, but to resolve all controversial issues through peaceful negotiations. As a result, ordinary people calmly go to work, live, fall in love, raise children. They worry about various little things, for example, how not to be late for the bus, what kind of job it is better to get, what color to buy a new jacket. Parents teach children not to fight and not to conflict, to help their neighbors and not to be at enmity, they adopted this from their parents, who in turn taught them, and these foundations are unshakable. But it’s not always accepted to resolve issues peacefully. Somewhere on the globe, people of some country far from us suffer from military operations and dream that everything will be as it was before.
Blood war
It would seem that now is the era of negotiations and peaceful solutions to conflicts. However, very often you can see or read in the news about more and more military operations. The war in one country did not have time to subside, as another begins to fight. And then you look - and some other unfortunate country suffers from fire from large and small guns. Why it happens? All because of disagreements in opinions and views. And this is also done because of such primitive things as greed, envy and the desire to get rich. Sometimes it even seems that a person’s war is in the blood. And in order to remind the world that humanity has recently entered a civilized era, conflicts must be resolved peacefully, and man himself, a good and peaceful creature, the International Day of Peace was created.
Few numbers
Researchers in 2008 did a tremendous job, calculating how many “reasonable people” have fought since the beginning of the existence of cultural civilization. The numbers are terrifying. Starting counting from 3600 BC and until then 2008, humanity has not fought just for about 292 years, which is 5% of the total existence of a cultural society. It is not surprising why bloodshed is still going on - this is in a person’s blood. And that is why the UN began to sound the alarm and instituted International Peace Day. Indeed, all countries persistently insist on world peace.
International Peace Day
This world holiday of peace was adopted in 1981 by the UN General Assembly by resolution 36/67 and was celebrated on the third Tuesday of September. It was dedicated to strengthening peaceful relations and love for each other, both between peoples and countries, and within each individual state. A couple of decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly drafted resolution 55/282, which indicated that starting in 2002, International Peace Day would be celebrated on September 21 and would symbolize "Day of non-violence and the cessation of hostilities."
Mass reaction
By adopting this resolution, the UN hoped for people's support. And they got it. Having learned that International Peace Day was a holiday, millions of caring people rose and began not only to talk about peace, but also to do something to achieve a future without war and violence. On this day, September 21, many youth, social organizations and simply not indifferent people hold various events, demonstrations and actions that urge to give up arms, forget about hatred and remember love for one's neighbor. Also on this day the opportunity to exchange experiences with other organizations carrying the world from different cities and even countries is not missed, as well as in order to draw the attention of certain groups of people and organizations to the problems of peaceful coexistence.
The UN members themselves also do not bypass International Peace Day. On September 21 of each year, the UN Secretary General makes an appeal in New York near the Peace Bell, followed by a blow to the same bell, and then a moment of silence. Also, this holiday is annually thematic in nature, for example, "Youth for Development and Peace", "The Right to the World of Peoples", etc.
Celebrate a "Peaceful" Holiday
This holiday is celebrated around the world, and our country is no exception. In many cities of the globe and our homeland, various youth organizations constantly remind of the world with their events. You can also not limit yourself to caring people, but celebrate this event at the city or even state level.
The scenario for the International Peace Day event could be something like the following. A big concert on the square of the city (or another type of settlement) with several famous stars who call for "living together." Between performances, it would be nice to show what conflicts are occurring in the world and human losses not only among military personnel, but also among civilians. Nowhere and without a peace symbol - white doves that children will release at the end of the holiday. Also, these celebrations can be made thematic. For example, “Fighting for Human Rights,” “Friendship of Peoples,” “Creating World Peace,” etc. In general, International Peace Day should inspire people to coexist peacefully with each other and individual nations with other inhabitants of the cultural world.
