Adobe Photoshop positions itself as a leader in the field of graphic editors. This is due to the fact that the application has almost all the transformations with the image and photo. Another advantage can be considered the fact that the interface is really light and unloaded, which attracts more and more newcomers to the field of design. The application is able to work both in vector and in raster mode, but a greater bias is placed on the latter option. Despite the simple structure of the program, Adobe Photoshop has a very serious base of various functions and elements. Speaking about images, it is impossible not to mention the correction by working with pixels, as an example, you can put the inversion of colors.
Inversion Types
In Photoshop, there are two types of inversion. The first view is associated with the selection of the image. The second relates to color brightness distortion. They have one common principle - inversion (inverse effect). For experienced users, this may not be new, but for beginners it will obviously be useful to know the capabilities of this program. Invert colors will allow you to apply a specific filter for image processing. And inverting the selection of layers will add more features for creating objects and working on them.
How to invert colors in Photoshop
A great opportunity to test this feature is to put it into practice. Images with a bright color palette are best suited for this, so it’s worth bearing in mind that black and white graphics are not quite suitable for this operation. Suppose that the user has already opened the image in the program, now we will figure out how to make the inversion of colors.
- Imagine that the user needs to invert the image, for this you need to combine all the layers into one common. This can be done in the layers panel by clicking on the "Merge Visible" item.
- Now the user will have to go to the "Image" section at the top of the program. Select the section "Correction" and in it we find the item "Invert".
Color inversion is carried out through brightness values (256 units). For example, the area where the brightness is 206 will change after applying the operation to a value of 50. Such an action occurs with each area of the image, receiving a picture that seems to be reversed.
Inverse layer
There are several ways to select a portion in an image. To do this, there are a lot of various tools that differ in their functionality. You can choose a method of selection conditionally, from a rectangular area to a very complex geometric design. In either case, inversion can be used to highlight. This function is located in the "Selection" section, the "Invert" item.
It is based on the mutual redirection of the selected object and the layer as a whole. The selected object and the layer are interchanged - now the layer becomes selected, and the previously selected object becomes unselected. Now a layer without an object can be edited: delete, copy; and the object itself will remain unchanged.
It is immediately worth noting that you can invert colors in a separate area of the image. To do this, you need to create a separate layer into which you want to transfer the desired part of the image by mutually selecting and copying the layers into one common one. It will be interesting to observe how the inverted part of the image and its original look visually.
Hotkeys
In Adobe Photoshop, functions that can be played using keyboard shortcuts occupy a separate place. For example, in order not to bother with opening all the tabs, you can use the Ctrl + I keyboard shortcut. After applying the hot keys, the image will become inverted in brightness.
The above described method where the user could invert a separate part of the image by transferring all layers to one. This method can be put into practice for a rather long time, so you can simply select an area in the image using tools that have a direct purpose for highlighting. Then press the keys Ctrl + I, and the selected area will be converted to an inverse layer.
If we recall the inversion of selection, then this function can also be activated. But first you need to set the initial selection with any of the possible tools, and then through the keyboard shortcut Shift + Ctrl + I to invert the selected sections.
