During the period of bearing a child, a woman's immunity weakens, and she risks becoming infected with all kinds of diseases. The most unpleasant symptom of many of them is diarrhea. Exactly so, taking into account the changing hormonal background, the body of the expectant mother reacts to bacteria and viruses. But what to treat diarrhea during pregnancy, we will consider in this article.
The drug "Levomycetin"
This medication has been known for a very long time. The price of "Levomycetin" in tablets is quite low, so it can be found in any home medicine cabinet. It is taken mainly with diarrhea. However, the spectrum of its action is much wider than we think. In fact, Levomycetin is an antibiotic that fights infections and inflammations. Therefore, "Levomycetin" during pregnancy in most cases is not used.
Pharmacology
How does the drug work? It affects protein synthesis in pathogenic microorganisms. Destroying it, it slows down the growth of bacteria and violates its ability to reproduce. Therefore, the microorganism dies. The drug relieves inflammation and heals an infected organ or tissue.

- Escherichia coli;
- shigella;
- salmonella;
- streptococci;
- neyssery;
- protium;
- rickettsia;
- treponema;
- chlamydia, etc.
Since these microorganisms are resistant to antibiotics of a number of sulfonamides, penicillins and tetracyclines, Levomycetin should not be used during pregnancy. Indeed, during the bearing of a child in extreme cases, only antibiotics of the penicillin series are permissible. The drug will not give a result in the fight against fungi, protozoa, strains of Koch bacillus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, clostridia.

Then the question arises: how can they be prescribed to a pregnant woman, if they can harm the baby? The answer to this question is as follows. In this form of the drug, the dosage of the active substance is minimal. In addition, this is considered an external agent, and the drug is practically not absorbed into the blood.
Therefore, pregnant women are strictly forbidden to take the medication inside, while in the form of drops it is permissible. But do not self-medicate and prescribe even eye drops to yourself.

Since “Levomycetin” is prohibited during pregnancy, there are analogues of it that your doctor may advise you, referring to their lesser harm. Among them:
- Fluimucil;
- Levovinisol;
- Bactoban
- "Gentamicin";
- Synthomycin;
- Fusiderm
- "Neomycion";
- "Banecin";
- Lincomycin.
Do not forget that only a doctor prescribes any drug therapy. Self-medication, especially during pregnancy, is contraindicated.
Universality of the drug
As you know, some drugs help not only from those ailments that are prescribed in the instructions for use. For example, Levomycetinum solution helps with acne. To do this, take 1 or 2.5% solution and treat the problem area of the skin. The drug removes inflamed, red acne, and also helps fight acne. However, it is not necessary to wipe the entire face skin with a solution, this can lead to its overdrying and the appearance of acne, which is not susceptible to antibiotics. It is much harder to deal with such a rash.
It should also be noted that "Levomycetin" in the form of eye drops helps well with purulent otitis media and bacterial rhinitis. In the treatment of inflammation of the ear, the drug is dripped 3-4 drops in each ear 1-2 times a day. Instillation can be replaced by laying cotton wool soaked in a solution of Levomycetin.
To remove green snot, observed with bacterial rhinitis, first the nose is instilled with drops that relieve swelling. Among the vasoconstrictor drops are Naphthyzin, Galazolin, Rinorus, Farmazolin, etc. Then 1-2 drops are dripped into each nostril of the Levomycetin eye drops. Also 1-2 times a day.
"Chloramphenicol" is the best known remedy for diarrhea. However, it is effective if this diarrhea is caused by poisoning or intestinal infection. Do not forget that this is still an antibiotic, and if diarrhea provoked something else, then it may not help. There are many other, more effective remedies for diarrhea (Loperamide, Enterol, Subtil, etc.). But if you didn’t have anything else in the medicine cabinet except “Levomycetin”, and you are currently not able to go to the pharmacy, then you can use it 500 mg 1-2 times a day. If you helped one tablet and diarrhea stopped, then you can not continue to take the drug.
