Spotlights for suspended ceiling - small suns in your home

Today, an indispensable element of interior design are spotlights for a suspended ceiling. In addition to the fact that these miniature lighting fixtures serve as sources of bright light, they also visually make the room taller and more voluminous. Using well-distributed spotlights, even a small room or kitchen can be divided into specific zones. This type of lighting is widely used in public buildings: shopping centers, exhibition halls, restaurants, etc.

What are spotlights for suspended ceilings?

Spotlights are compact electric lighting fixtures with a small angle of diffusion of light, which is why they are used by complex groups, and not individually. Naturally, the number of “points” is selected depending on

the area of the room. Spotlights for a suspended ceiling not only allow you to get a lot of unique options in the design of the room, but also save energy if you do not turn on all the lights in the room, but only a specific group in the desired area. In addition to suspended ceilings, “points” can be mounted in various designs (shelves, upper tiers of cabinets, arched openings, floor racks, etc.).

Classification of spotlights

Spotlights for a suspended ceiling differ in their design features. They are divided into two categories: built-in and invoice, which, in turn, are divided into custom and stationary.

  • Recessed fixtures are mounted in holes of a certain diameter, previously made in the surface.
  • The invoice version is attached directly to the surface.
  • Customizable spotlights have a swivel mechanism that allows you to rotate the body, directing the light beam to any area of the room and thereby changing the degree of illumination.
  • The stationary type of luminaires is not equipped with an adjustment mechanism, so the light beam is directed only downward.

Installation of spotlights

The installation process for recessed spotlights begins with the marking of their future location. When installing a suspended structure between the suspended and the main ceiling planes, it is necessary to leave a sufficient distance that will allow the lamps to be correctly mounted. Having made the marking, it is necessary to make round holes smaller in diameter than the ceiling. After that, the spotlights for the false ceiling are connected to the mains. This will require special transformers. They are electronic and induction. Electronic transformers are lightweight, easy to install, but short-lived. Induction models weigh more, but much more reliable. Transformers can be installed on each spotlight or on separate groups. Then an individual or serial connection of lighting devices is made. It should be borne in mind that with a serial connection, when all the lights are connected with one wire, it is recommended to install a voltage rectifier, which will prevent the lamps from burning out in the event of a power failure. By the way, the rectifier will not be superfluous even with an individual connection, when each lamp is connected to the distribution box by a separate wire.
