Mankar Camoran: Master of Mythical Dawn

Mankar is the only known chapter and probable founder of Mythic Dawn. Under his leadership, the cult organized a large-scale invasion of Daedric demons in Tamriel, known as the Oblivion Crisis. As a result of the crisis, the lands of Tamriel were devastated, and the Septim Empire fell.

Past

There is no information about the origin of Mankar. The only time his name is found in the book “Refugees”. That is the name of the illegitimate son of King Walenwood Camoran the Usurper and his lover. However, they were the Bosmer, and the cult master himself was an altmer. Therefore, it is possible that he is an imposter.

Mankar had two children: Raven and Ruma. They were the closest members of the Mythical Dawn. Raven was looking for new recruits, and Ruma studied magic and helped her father in the sanctuary.

Mankara Camoran's Paradise

Using the legendary book "The Mystery of the Zarx," he created a subplane in the Dead Lands of Oblivion. He was called Paradise or Gayar Alata. It included three areas:

  • Wild Garden;
  • Forbidden Grotto;
  • Palace or Kayrak Agaylor.
Ayleid Ruins in the Wild Garden

To the faithful adherents, the Master promised the ascension to his Paradise after death. They lived forever in the Wild Garden, reviving again and again when they died in the clutches of the lower daedra adjacent to them. Unwanted cultists fell into the Forbidden Grotto for torture. He himself lived in a palace on top of the Wild Garden.

Mythic Dawn Comments

To recruit new members of the cult, the Master wrote 4 volumes of commentaries on the Mystery of the Zarx. In the first letters of the paragraphs, he encrypted the key to finding the secret sanctuary by Lake Arrius. Having collected all the books and having come to the sanctuary, the seeker became a full-fledged adherent of the Mythical Dawn.

Amulet of Kings

According to one of the main assistants, Mankar wanted to destroy Tamriel and rebuild it. To this end, he planned to summon Merunes Dagon, the Daedric prince of destruction. But the line between the mortal world and Oblivion was protected by the treaty of the Empire with the main deity of the imperial pantheon Akatosh. The symbol of the contract was Dragon Lights. At the coronation of the new emperor, they were kindled with the help of the Amulet of Kings and burned until his death.

The Oblivion Crisis

The assassination of Uriel Septim

In the fall of 433 years of the Third Era, Emperor Uriel Septim VII and his three sons were assassinated by the cult. Before his death, the emperor managed to transfer the Amulet of Kings to a fugitive prisoner. He brought him to Priory Veinon under the protection of a secret imperial guard - the Order of the Blades.

The fall of kvatch

Camoran later became aware of the illegitimate heir to Uriel Martin. He served as a priest in the city of Kvatch and did not know about his origin.

Martin Septim at Kvatch Chapel

To get rid of the last son of the emperor, the assistant Mankara opened the Great Gate in Kwatch. Hordes of daedra that poured from there destroyed the city, but could not get to Martin, who was hiding in the chapel. The surviving guards successfully took the city into the ring and kept the attackers in it.

At this time, an agent of the Blades arrived in Kvatch to save Martin. He broke into the portal and found a tower there. From its top, the hero took the Sigil stone, which supported the work of the Great Gate. Slamming shut, they stripped the daedra of reinforcements from their home plan.

Soon, the survivors cleared out the remaining demons, but the attack turned Kvatch into ruins.

Amulet capture and death of children

In parallel with the unsuccessful attempt on Martin, a group of cultists successfully attacked Priory Veinon and took the Amulet of Kings from there. From that moment on, the kindling of Dragonfires became impossible, and gates to Oblivion began to open throughout Tamriel.

Mankar Camoran speaks to the cultists

During the operation to collect "Comments on the Mystery of the Zarx," the Blades killed Raven. The decrypting agent found the sanctuary and entered inside. Mankar at that moment gave a speech to the adherents, but managed to escape with the Amulet of Kings to Paradise through the portal. In an attempt to defend the Mystery of the Zarx, Rum was killed. The agent who took the book disappeared.

Mankar continued to control the cult from Karak Agaylor. There, children ascended after death joined him.

The tragedy of Bruma

Daedric Siege Machine

It was possible to completely destroy the barrier between Tamriel and Oblivion only by killing Martin. The cultists have learned that the Blades are hiding him in the Temple of the Lord of the Clouds. It was a well-fortified base near the city of Bruma. To capture it, it was decided to besiege the city.

From the failed adepts, these plans became known to the Blades. They set up an army near the city and allowed the cultists to open the Great Gate. As the warriors held back the onslaught of the daedra, Agent Klinkov entered the portal. His goal was a special Sigil stone, which could only be obtained from the Great Gate tower. The hero managed to break into the heart of the tower before a huge siege vehicle, the Dremor, approached the portal. Taking the stone, he closed the Gate and stopped the attack.

Death of the Master

Using a stone, Martin opened a portal to Mankara's Paradise. Through him, the agent of the Blades got into the Wild Garden, and from there through the Forbidden Grotto penetrated into Karak Agaylor. Despite the help of the children in the battle, Mankar was killed. With his death, Paradise collapsed.

The amulet of Kings passed into the hands of the emperor’s heir.

Merunes Dagon attacks the Imperial City

The coronation ceremony was drawing to a close when the Great Gate opened in the Imperial City. Of these, the Prince of Destruction himself appeared to interfere with the lighting of the Dragonfires. The doomed emperor decided to sacrifice his own life for the sake of victory. He broke the amulet and turned into the incarnation of Akatosh - a fiery dragon. The dragon fought Dagon and drove him back to Oblivion. However, after the victory he himself turned to stone.

Effects

The victim of the emperor secured an agreement with Akatosh. Tamriel was now protected from the hordes of Oblivion without the need to maintain the heat of the Dragonfire. Despite the fact that Mankar Camoran was defeated, his work inflicted tremendous damage to the mortal world:

  • Cities and provinces were devastated by the daedra, penetrating through the gates. From Kvatch, Ald'run and the Crystal Tower there are ruins.
  • The Septim family, which ruled for 21 generations, was exterminated.
  • Uniting during the Third Era, the entire Tamriel Empire fell.

The end of the Crisis was the beginning of the Fourth Era.
