Pets from VoB are a special category of NPS characters that play the role of companions for a player. It can be a variety of creatures: animals, mechanisms or elementals. Each player can afford to have a personal companion who will follow his master everywhere.
Initially, satellites were passive characters who never participated in battles and could not be attacked by other aggressive NPCs. The only exceptions at that time (the moment the pets first appeared in the game) were Willy Sonia and clockwork rocket bots - they could show little aggression towards other creatures or to each other.
Ordinary satellites
Small pets, who do not take part in battles at all, fall under the category of ordinary satellites. In early updates, they could be called through the activation of the corresponding item (right mouse click). Now the item can be used only once, after which it disappears, and a new bookmark with the satellite icon appears on the hero’s panel.
Where to get a pet in VoB? You can get a regular satellite in the following ways:
- as a gift for completing tasks that are given to owners of the collector's version of WoW and other Blizzard projects (much less often);
- contact the appropriate merchants;
- use the skill "Engineering" (works only on mechanical satellites);
- collect dead monsters from the corpses (one of the rarest ways);
- go through several special missions (usually quite strange);
- Become a member of gaming events.
Also in the category of ordinary satellites can be attributed and mounts. For their masters, these creatures are excellent vehicles.
Guards
With the help of some items you can call special guardians, who are always ready to provide support in the battle. They are with the player until they die themselves or until their call time expires.
Some guards are summoned by reusable trinkets, whose effect is restored over time. You can also make a call through special items placed in the left hand (for example, grimoires), or a certain type of weapon.
Guards are obtained in several ways:
- in the form of a gift when the player completed a special chain of tasks;
- in the form of a gift when a player has gained a certain reputation;
- through the skills "Engineering" and "Jewelry";
- get at certain locations.
After the call, the guards defend their master, attacking both active opponents and passive ones. Often they pounce on an untouched target, for which the team is not yet ready for battle. Therefore, it is important to monitor the process of calling the guard and resort to his help only when it is really necessary.
Rare satellites
The search for this category of creatures can take a lot of time and effort, which already indicates the level of skill that will have to be demonstrated in the process of capture and taming. Due to their rarity, such pets are very much appreciated at auctions and sold for considerable money. We will discuss more about them in one of the following chapters.
Pets and mini-fights
Another addition for World of Warcraft, Mists of Pandaria, added to the game the ability to conduct small battles between the satellites. This new gameplay has allowed not only to organize exciting mini-battles, but also to achieve new achievements and skills, passing unique quests.
First, all interested players should learn a new skill that will allow them to train fighting pets, arrange battles between them and search for new creatures.
If the hero managed to reach the fifth level, then he can be sent to one of the special trainers - there he will begin his training. By the way, the ability is given in exchange for 10 gold coins, so you should not come to study empty-handed. You can turn to the same trainers for your first combat satellite. After that, we take the first task and go to win!
First battles
We move the new pet to the satellite window and, if desired, give it a new name. Our pet managed to reach only the first level, however, it is already possible to take it with you and set it against other beginners. Fights are held both against the pets of other players, and against wild creatures living around.
For starters, you should use the ability to "Find pets", which will help you find the location of potential characters on the map. Wild pets are indicated by a green paw. We approach them and activate a small icon hanging above their heads - with this action we will start the battle.
As for the combat interface in World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, it is quite simple and easy to learn. At the top of the screen there will be indicators of hp (ours and the opponent), and at the bottom - a list of activated skills and icons of the main interface. An additional tab will also appear in the chat, indicating the battle log with all the necessary details.
At the end of the battle, our companion will gain experience in the form of points, which affect the level increase and, accordingly, the study of new abilities. If the pet has time to suffer and lose a significant part of HP, it will have to be treated, if it died, it will have to be resurrected.
How to tame pets in "VoB"?
When the level of any of our satellites reaches 3, we will gain access to a new ability called "Trap". We’ll talk with a special mentor who issues taming quests, and take the first task for ourselves.
All potential pets must be fought. "Trap" is the fifth ability in the battle, and you can use it only after the level of the target drops to 35%. Immediately, we note that no one is immune from a slip, so do not worry if the attempt was unsuccessful. In this case, the success of the next use of "Traps" will increase by as much as 20%.
After the target is tamed, the battle will go into the status of "completed", and a congratulation and information about the rarity of the new pet will appear on the screen.
Rarity - an important factor or not?
All captured satellites are of varying degrees of rarity. Usually, information with all the characteristics and descriptions appears immediately after the capture, so the player learns about the status of the new satellite right on the spot. Compared to ordinary ones, rare pets from VoV are endowed with higher stats, whose growth also goes much faster than usual. Thus, a creature with a low status has an initial strength of 8, and at the twenty-fifth level its stat will reach 218. At the same time, a rare creature whose initial strength is 12 will increase its stat to 301 after reaching the twenty-fifth level. From this we can conclude that it is the rare type that is suitable for training and subsequent battles - today these are the best pets in VoB.
Stats
It's time to look again at the interface to deal with the combat qualities of our satellites.
- HP (or level of health) is perhaps the most important stat that needs no introduction. Zero hp means not only instant loss, but also blocking subsequent battles. A pet can return to a new battle only after resurrection and subsequent treatment.
- Strength - thanks to this indicator, the effect of the base damage increases. Some abilities can affect this stat in both a positive and a negative way.
- Speed - helps determine the first attacker. By the way, during the "taming" it is the satellites with high speed that manifest themselves best.
- Type or type - some species show themselves better in battle, and some - in defense, so all pets in the game can be divided into those who attack and those who defend.
Some useful tips
Pumping up pets is not so difficult: we simply defeat wild creatures and companions of other trainers and get experience points as a reward. The further the character advances in level, the stronger he becomes. Sooner or later, the moment will come when victories over weaker opponents will no longer bring experience. In order to always find worthy rivals, you will often have to travel through game zones.
During the battle, you can use only three abilities of your pet from the available six (all abilities are studied to level 20). We advise you to make a team of those creatures whose skills most effectively complement each other.
Most WoW battle pets can be sold to other players, even after they have reached the maximum level of leveling. It doesn’t matter if they were bought from vendors or received through a regular drop. You cannot sell only those creatures that were tamed during the battle - they can be released into the wild.
