Metis Chihuahua and Spitz: photo, description of the breed

The half-breed chihuahua and Pomeranian spitz-dog got the name rush (by the first letters of pure breeds of dogs). Patch was bred in order to obtain a breed combining the advantages of both Chihuahua and Spitz. The breeding of these dogs has become popular in recent decades, as a result of the crossbreeding, the metis chihuahua and Spitz are more healthy and live longer than their purebred ancestors. The mestizo standard was developed by the American Pomc Club in 1998.

Chihuahua and Spitz breed mestizo breed description

As expected, this hybrid of two small dogs is also small. The average weight of an adult mestizo is 2.5-3 kg, but some specimens can grow up to 5.5 kg.

The hairline of the ancestors of pomchi, which is also called chi-pom, is very different, since the Chihuahua has a smooth coat, and the Pomeranian has a thick and long coat. For this reason, the mestizo chihuahua and spitz are of medium length.

The color of the new breed can be the most diverse:

  • the black;
  • white;
  • grey;
  • Orange;
  • red.

In addition, one instance may have intermediate coat colors. The wool itself on the rush body is soft and long, like a spitz, and on the legs - short, like a chihuahua. As a result, an elegant transition of the coat is obtained at the base of the paws. A photo of a half-breed Spitz and Chihuahua with a black and white coat of wool is given below.

Black and white rush

The rush body shape is round, the nose is flat and symmetrical, the eyes are large, not protruding beyond the muzzle. The color of the eyes is dark with different shades depending on the color of the coat and the color of the eyes of its ancestors. The ears are triangular in shape and medium in size. When the dog concentrates, they rise and fully straighten, in other cases they fall on his head. The body of a half-breed Chihuahua and Spitz is thin, and the legs are thick and short. The tail may have the form of a ringlet or be straight.

Temperament Characteristic

Playful doggie

Just like most small mestizo dogs, pomchi is a reliable friend and a full member of the family if he is sufficiently trained and trained. If puppies of Mestizos Spitz and Chihuahua are not trained, then they can grow up aggressive and unfriendly even to their own owner. Therefore, from early childhood, they need to explain that they are not the center of attention in the family, but only part of it.

You should train the rush correctly, not be too rude with him and praise him for every achievement. Also, experts recommend more often to create situations in which all family members would spend joint leisure time with a pet, thereby making it more sociable.

The nature of the mestizo chihuahua and Spitz is inherently kind, the dog loves physical contact with people whom she trusts. If the owner often leaves the pet alone for long periods of time, then he becomes closed and tends to retire.

General Pet Care

Friendly pet

If the half-breed Chihuahua and Spitz have a sufficiently long coat, you need to comb it daily to avoid the appearance of tangles in the coat. If the dog has short hair, combing can be done every two days. A pet should be bathed without shampoo, since a chemical product can cause allergic reactions on its skin and dries it.

It should be remembered that the dog does not tolerate hot and humid climates, as well as severe frosts, so it needs to be kept at home, and not outdoors. The digestive system of urine is quite sensitive, therefore it is recommended to feed it with a special dry food of high quality for dogs. In addition, the mestizo teeth are not strong, so giving him large bones is undesirable.

Pomchi is a very friendly and energetic pet dog, if raised from early childhood with family members, but you should not have a pet if there are small children in the house.

When to buy a dog

Once the Métis puppies, the Spitz and Chihuahua are twelve weeks old, they can be bought and raised on their own. At the same time, at 8-10 weeks, puppies should already be weaned from mother's milk. At this time, they should be given all the necessary vaccinations so that they grow up healthy.

Rush puppy

After the puppy has stopped drinking mother’s milk, he should continue to be fed milk. Food rush should be given 1 time per day, while making sure that the puppy constantly has a bowl of water.

Teaching your puppy to a new home

Before buying rush, you should also take care of the place where he will sleep. For this, a small doghouse is suitable, the size of which should be sufficient so that the pet can calmly lie down and stretch out in it. But the home should not be too spacious, since these mestizos prefer a cozy small space. A small blanket should be placed in the house so that the puppy is warm and comfortable in it.

To train a puppy to a new house should be gradual. First, let him study it on his own. Then, when it is inside, close the door, but stay close and watch that the pet is not afraid and does not whine. Before you go to bed, you should turn off the light and leave the room for a few minutes, then go back and stroke the rush, praise it and give some food. Such actions should be repeated until you are sure that the puppy is not afraid to be alone in a dark room.

Trained rush

A half-breed Chihuahua and Spitz should be taught from an early age that people and other animals are constantly around him. This approach will help to accustom him to discipline and teach to trust others.

Also, the puppy must be taught to walk on a leash in accordance with the rhythm of the owner. In two or three days he will get used to such walks.
