In 1998, for the first time, Mother's Day was introduced into the list of Russian national festivals, the number of celebrations of which falls at the end of November. Initially, it was customary to celebrate it on the last Sunday of the month of November, and still this tradition has been preserved. They decided to celebrate it, because there is no one more important in life than mother. And the most important person in life deserves at least one date on the calendar.
Mother's Day in Russia
If you were picked up by the wave of the "young" holiday, then you, of course, are wondering when Mother's Day is held in Russia. Indeed, many are perplexed how to celebrate this event: whether to follow European traditions, or whether we have our own date dedicated to this day. So what date is Mother's Day in Russia? All according to the same tradition of European countries: the number falling on the last Sunday of November.
The President issued a decree on when Mother's Day should be held in Russia . The creation of this holiday was carried out with the aim of increasing the social significance of motherhood, so that everyone living on planet Earth could pay tribute to his mother, could thank his own person, who awarded him his life and let people into the world.
Each mother is glad to hear a few kind words addressed to her, to receive a gift made by the inept little hands of the child, to feel the warmth and care of the children.
When Mother's Day in Russia passes, as usual, all kinds of events are organized on the occasion of the holiday. TV channels and radio stations tirelessly convey congratulations to people.
However, the Russians are not as enthusiastic about this holiday as our European comrades. But we will all catch up. Society needs true values in life, without them, a modern sick society “turns pale” and “turns pale”, bright colors are erased and only exaggerated values, low and mercantile aspirations remain.
Mothers are the basis of the extension of the human race, and, therefore, the most valuable inhabitants of the Earth, thanks to which we exist. The maternal instinct slumbers in every woman - such a phenomenon we can observe when children play, for example, in dolls. Maternal love is a powerful energy charge sent to the object of love. And this power guards the invisibly beloved child.
history of the holiday
Mother's day, you can say, originates in the ancient Greeks honoring the goddess Gaia, who was revered for being the mother of all the gods, as well as in the traditions of the Romans honoring the goddess Cybele, who was the patroness of ancient Rome.
In the Middle Ages, when children almost went to work from the cradle, each family meeting was like a holiday: a joyful atmosphere reigned and a “mother’s cake” was being prepared - the most delicious cake in the world.
By the middle of the 17th century, the memory of this day gradually disappeared, and at 18 it was completely wiped out from the memory of people burdened with heavy worries.
World War II served as a revival of ancient traditions in the United States, and Mother's Day was first proclaimed in 1914.
When Mother’s Day is celebrated in Russia, it’s like a reminder that the Russian attitude towards motherhood is the most tender, that the Russians are not “insensitive blocks”. This holiday is able to unite all layers of modern society, promote mutual understanding of all nationalities and make the government look differently at the importance of motherhood in the country.
