With such a patriotic headline, one should begin the story of one of the most striking, but little-known holidays. Every year throughout the Russian Federation on September 2, the Day of the Russian Guard is traditionally celebrated. The holiday was officially established in 2000 by presidential decree. It was timed to a truly memorable date - the three hundredth anniversary of the Russian guard. What is this type of troops?
Military elite
In general, the word “guard” is translated from Italian as “guard”. In Russia, this term is usually called privileged troops. They should be well trained, equipped with the latest military technology and, of course, be true patriots, ready at the first signal to begin to perform assigned tasks. By the way, even in the distant past, the guard was the core of the army, and specially armed units were always with the sovereign, often playing the role of his personal bodyguards. Therefore, the Day of the Russian Guard is not just the date when we remember the true patriots of our country, it is also the time to recall the exploits of the heroes of past eras.
Not only the window cut through
By the way, for the first time, Russian guardsmen are mentioned in annals in the context of campaigns of the troops of Peter I. It was he who established the Imperial Guard in the first years of his reign. And it was created from the elite units of the Semenovsky and Preobrazhensky regiments. Unfortunately, in 1918 the guard was disbanded. She was revived again by the time of the Second World War. In 1941, during stubborn battles, 4 divisions of riflemen fought valiantly and distinguished themselves. They began to be called the guards. This was the order of Joseph Stalin. And in September 1941, the entire Red Army began to bear the proud name of the "guards unit". During the period of bloody battles for the liberation of the Soviet cities conquered by the Nazis, such a title was assigned to formations and military associations that distinguished themselves in service. Thus, the day of the Guard of Russia has a rich background. Remembering it means loving your country, your country.
This is not soldiers
During the reign of Peter, from the children of the boyars and courtiers formed a “funny team” (it is to this that Day of the Russian Guard owes), later it became a military unit. To train the fighters, they invited overseas officers who were instructed to train the recruits according to Western European military science. Toy muskets were replaced with real military weapons. And past nursery rhymes became large-scale exercises. For training the soldiers spared neither strength nor finances. On the coast of Yauza mini-fortress grew. She practiced the skills and techniques of both storming and defending fortifications. Years later, a detachment consisting of cavalrymen, an artillery command and a small fleet on Pereyaslavsky Lake was added to the infantry. By the way, on the Day of the Russian Guard you can see stylized shows that reproduce the first years of the existence of elite military units. Brave cavalry, brave infantry and well-aimed artillery appear before the audience in all its glory. Guard Day is a real celebration for both children and adults.
